Edro III: A Ship Frozen on the Shore

#hellohalloween Not far from Paphos, at Cape Peyia, lies a ship that hasn't sailed for a long time. It's listing to one side and rusted, but still clings to the rocks. This is the Edro III, a cargo ship that lost control during a storm in 2011. Since then, it has become part of the landscape. Its white hull is slowly rusting, while goats graze and cacti grow around it. In the evening, people come here to watch the sunset—the sun sets directly behind them, and the sea seems to glow from within. 📍 Location: Near the village of Peyia, 14 km from Paphos, Cyprus. 🕐 When to go: Best in the evening—the light is soft, and the waves are painted golden. ⸻ How to get there (current as of 2025) 🚗 By car: From Paphos, drive about 20 minutes towards Coral Bay and the village of Peyia. The last couple of hundred meters are a dirt road, passable for cars. Parking is free, right next to the cliff. 🚌 By bus: Route #615 from Paphos to Coral Bay, then walk about 2 km along the coast. ⸻ What to do: - Get closer and see the hull with the Edro III inscription. - Watch the sunset from the cliff opposite. - Stop at the Sea Caves Café, a small cafe with a view of the ship and the sea. - If you have time, drive a little further to the Sea Caves and the observation deck above the cliff.
