My experience visiting Penghu Shuncheng Gate

#2月好地方2025 This time when I came to Penghu, I specially visited Shuncheng Gate. This ancient city gate with a long history gave me a deeper understanding of Penghu’s culture and history. Shuncheng Gate was built in the Qing Dynasty and is part of the Jinguitou Fort in Penghu. It was once an important defense facility to protect Magong. Standing in front of the gate, looking at the mottled stone wall and the three large characters "Shunchengmen" on it, you can feel the traces of history, as if time has gone back to the era when the Qing army was stationed there. Passing through Shuncheng Gate and walking into Magong Old Street, you will be greeted by a strong ancient city atmosphere. The old houses and shops on both sides of the street are full of Penghu local characteristics. I particularly like this feeling of interweaving history and modernity, as if this city gate has witnessed the rise and fall and changes of Penghu. This visit not only allowed me to appreciate the beauty of the historical buildings, but also gave me a deeper understanding of Penghu’s past. Shunchengmen is not only a city gate, but also an important landmark that carries the historical memory of Penghu. If you have the opportunity to come to Penghu, Shunchengmen is definitely a place worth visiting!
