Ningdu County, under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southeastern part of Jiangxi Province and the northern part of Ganzhou City, with a total area of 4,053 square kilometers. Ningdu has a long history and is one of the early settlements and distribution centers for the central plains people's southward migration. It is an important birthplace of the Hakka people from Guangdong, Fujian, and Guangxi, and is a pure Hakka county, known as the ancestral land of the Hakka; Ningdu is rich in culture, producing famous personalities such as Wei Xi, a well-known essayist of the Qing Dynasty, and Luo Mu, the founder of Jiangxi landscape painting. From the Song to the Qing Dynasty, there were 132 successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations, including 2 top scorers and 1 third place, ranking first in southern Jiangxi and known as the land of scholars and poetry; Ningdu is a hotbed of revolution, serving as the political and military center of the early Central Soviet Area, the command center of the five anti-encirclement campaigns of the Central Soviet Area, the main battlefield, the consolidation of the rear, and the site of the shocking 'Ningdu Uprising'. The establishment of the Young Communist International Division earned it the reputation of the cradle of the Soviet Area; Ningdu is rich in resources, with more than 800,000 mu of arable land, producing over 800 million jin of grain annually, accounting for one-fifth of the total output of southern Jiangxi, and is one of the first batch of national commodity grain base counties, known as the granary of southern Jiangxi; Ningdu has a beautiful ecology, with the main river, the Mei River, being the longest and largest tributary of the Gan River basin. 592.02 square kilometers of land area is included in the Gan River source protection area, rightfully earning the title of the source of the Gan River.
