However, on the day I visited, the landscape was covered in snow, creating a fantastical landscape that made me feel like I was in another world. This place, where grazing horses usually graze leisurely, has a completely different atmosphere when it snows. The white-covered earth was enveloped in silence, and as the snow fell, fluffy snow piled up under my feet. The Aso mountains in the distance were also covered in a thin layer of snow, and I felt a silence and beauty that was different from the usual volcanic wildness. The cold wind blew numb my cheeks, but I felt that the cold was also one of the unique charms of the snowy Kusasenrigahama. As I walked, I found small animal footprints left on the snow, and realized that life was still alive even in the harsh winter weather. Kusasenrigahama, covered in snow, had a beauty reminiscent of a foreign landscape, as if it were not Japan.
