Riding the lift up the narrow, winding path, I felt as if I were being sucked back into time. Stepping off the lift and toward the castle gate, I felt the weight of history, the imposing weight of a medieval Japanese castle, with my whole being. Entering the castle, the beauty of traditional architecture unfolded before my eyes, contrasting white walls with black wood. From the small windows and narrow passageways hidden in every corner, to the watchtowers designed for soldiers to survey the terrain, everything was both strategic and beautiful. The view of Matsuyama City from the castle was a charming yet peaceful sight, captivating me for quite some time. The observation deck on the main keep (main castle) offered a particularly striking panoramic view. The distant plains of Iyo Bay and the city of Matsuyama were visible, and the castle itself was bathed in a vibrant display of light and shadow, changing with the seasons. I sat on a bench for a while, leisurely admiring the castle, imagining the warriors of the past who once guarded it. On the way down, I walked through the gardens surrounding the castle, strolling along the stone walls and among the ancient trees, and taking photos. As I paused for a moment, sipping warm green tea at a cafe near the castle, I felt the leisure and history of this place seep into my heart.
