[Shimane Matsue] Western-style building from the Meiji period

Located within the grounds of Matsue Castle in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, Kounkaku is a Western-style building built in the Meiji era. It is located at the back left hand side as you climb the stairs towards Matsue Castle! The building makes you feel like you have traveled back in time. It is free to enter and you can take photos. There is a cafe and an exhibition room on the first floor, which you can freely enter! If you go up to the second floor, you will find the place where the Emperor stayed at the time! There is an explanation, so please read it. It is a very nice building, so be sure to visit it when you are sightseeing in Matsue.
