2025 Machu Picchu Ticket Purchase Experience

Purchase Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025 We arrived at Aguas Calientes on Saturday, June 7, at 8:10 AM and bought tickets 328 and 329, respectively. We bought them at 5:00 PM that day for Circuit 2B, the following day, June 8, at 10:00 AM. Don't worry about whether you're buying 2A or 2B. Upon entering, they'll just confirm your route number. There's no checking or directing you to A or B. Basically, 2A and 2B are just like the Cultural Center staff said—you can take either route! Ticket purchase details and time: 1️⃣ Our driver picked us up from our hotel in Cusco at 3:40 am and took us to Ollantaytambo. We arrived in Ollantaytambo at 5:40 am. 2️⃣ We took the 6:40 am Inca Rail train to Machu Picchu. We had to arrive at the train station half an hour early, leaving plenty of time. We even had time to grab breakfast at a stall outside the station and were pleasantly upgraded to First Class. 3️⃣ The train arrived in Aguas Calientes at 8:10 am. We took our luggage to the ticket office (Ministerio de Cultur). 4️⃣ We arrived at the gate at 8:20 am. There were only four groups in line ahead of us, so we waited in line for less than five minutes. We successfully scanned our passports and received tickets 328 and 329. The ticket seller reminded us that they only accepted cash, so the ticket price was 152 sol. /ticket, change accepted 5️⃣ At 3:00 PM, I passed by the ticket office and started buying tickets starting with number 1. I was called number 100 and then lined up. 6️⃣ At 5:06 PM, I returned to the venue. Because I overslept to catch up on sleep, I recommend arriving at 4:50 PM. So, again, the line was less than five minutes. I bought my tickets at 5:13 PM. Each ticket required a passport. When we bought our tickets, the 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM Circuit 2 tickets were already sold out. There were a few left for the 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM tickets, and plenty for the 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM tickets. Hope everyone who didn't buy tickets online in advance can successfully buy tickets on-site! #Peru #MachuPicchu #MachuPicchuTicketRoute #PeruTravel

Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu

Here's how I made the most of my adventure through Peru’s magic cities — Cusco, Lima, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain! This trip was packed with jaw-dropping history, wild nature, and yes, lots of furry alpaca encounters 🦙✨ Top Spots to Visit: 1. Cusco: The heart of the Inca empire! Wander the Plaza de Armas (Calle Triunfo, open 24/7), snap pics at the San Blas neighborhood, and don’t miss the lively local markets. 2. Lima: Hit up Miraflores (Parque Kennedy, Av. Diagonal, open late) for ocean views and incredible ceviche joints (try La Mar, Av. La Mar 770). The historic center (Plaza Mayor) shines with colonial charm. 3. Machu Picchu: Book your ticket ahead via trip.com and grab the early shuttle from Aguas Calientes town (first bus leaves 5:30am). The climb is worth every sweaty step—don’t rush through, bring water and sunscreen! 4. Rainbow Mountain: Arrive early (Vinicunca, opening around 5am) to beat the crowds and catch the rainbow peaks at sunrise. Dress warm, altitude here is no joke! Pro tips from the trip: Don’t leave without alpaca time—local herders let you play (and snap selfies!) with their fluffy pals in Cusco’s squares. Altitude can hit hard, so acclimate for a day or two in Cusco and drink coca tea. Book Machu Picchu tickets weeks ahead for peace of mind. And for Rainbow Mountain, consider a guided tour—unpredictable weather and remote roads mean pro drivers = less stress. Getting around: Domestic flights or comfy buses (like Cruz del Sur) are best between Lima, Cusco, and surrounding areas. In cities, grab taxis via phone apps or walk central neighborhoods. Food recs: Try street churros in Cusco, munch on aji de gallina in Lima, and snack on choclo con queso (corn with cheese) on your Machu Picchu hike. Key tips: Cash is king in markets. Weather flips fast, pack layers and rain gear. Entrance tickets for Machu Picchu must match ID/passport info! #PeruAdventure #MachuPicchuMagic #CuscoDays #LimaEats #RainbowMountain
