Ancient Buddhist monastery lost in mountains

#postandearn #india #leh #lehladakh #ladakh Hemis monastery is a beautiful, very old Buddhist monastery lost in mountains and accessible from Leh. I went on a rental scooter and the trip was wonderful! The road is good, the views of surrounding mountains are stunning and the monastery itself is serene and tranquil. The monastery wasn't crowded and lots of monks were everywhere. I walked through different rooms and passages, enjoyed the view from rooftops and then just sat on one of the benches at the yard and enjoyed details of the temple buildings and listened to chanting. Overall, highly recommend this place. Tip: beware that you must take off your shoes to go inside. Tip 2: they ask not to take photos inside the monastery, please, be respectful.
