Fushimi Inari-Taisha

Famous for its over 10,000 torii gates, Fushimi Inari is undoubtedly the most famous and bustling shrine in Kyoto! However, there is a way to beat the crowds and take that iconic Kyoto photo with no one else in the frame! Early morning visit- The shrine is open 24 hours a day, all year round, so arrive before 8 AM to avoid the rush hours. Fushimi Inari Taisha is about 4km back and forth. Since most people take photos near the entrance, if you keep walking along the track, the crowd will eventually thin out! Fushimi Inari is one of the most popular places to visit for the first shrine visit of the year! On January 1st, thousands of Japanese climb to the top of the shrine.
