Kunming University of Science and Technology was founded on September 1, 1954, formerly known as Kunming Institute of Technology. It was renamed Kunming University of Science and Technology in 1995. In 1999, the original Kunming University of Science and Technology merged with the original Yunnan University of Technology to form the new Kunming University of Science and Technology. Up to now, the university has built three campuses: Chenggong, Lianhua, and Xinying, among which the Lianhua campus has the longest history. There is also a Begonia Avenue and a small cherry blossom square on this campus, which are good places for teachers, students, and surrounding residents to enjoy flowers in spring. Currently, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so those who are interested can come and enjoy them.
