The Blissful Village of Baicao

Located by the Dian Lake in Kunming, the majority of Baicao Village's residents are of the Bai ethnic group. The village boasts three treasures: the Yunlong Temple with a history of 600 years, the never-drying Longtan Water, and the famous herbs known for the 'Yunnan Baiyao' brand. The architectural style of the houses in the entire village fully reflects the characteristics of Bai ethnicity: mostly two-story buildings with extended heavy eaves; walls plastered with lime, presenting white walls and green tiles; gable roofs often decorated with various Chinese herbal plants and ink paintings reflecting rural life, dazzling to the eye, serene, generous, and elegant! The local residents are very happy, and on the village's Dragon Dance Square, one can see a group of local villagers rehearsing dances. During breaks, they wash sweet potatoes and taro in the water channels of Longtan. Others are seen washing clothes. Such scenes have become rare! At the former residence of Qu Huanzhang, visitors can explore the courtyard where the founder of Yunnan Baiyao lived and practiced medicine.
