It was raining when I checked into the #三条皇家公园酒店 in Kawaramachi, so I thought I’d have dinner nearby. I unexpectedly found a highly rated ramen restaurant in the alley across the street, but there were not many people who rated it, so I decided to give it a try! #京都牛骨顩白汤ハリちゃん is a salty ramen restaurant that specializes in beef bone soup. The beef bones are simmered over low heat for a whole day to release the collagen in the bone marrow. Unlike the thick and turbid pork bone soup, the beef bone salty soup tastes lighter, but still retains the sweetness of the milky and salty flavor, making it less stressful to drink. There are four types of noodles on the menu: special beef bone salty soup, Kyoto beef bone salty soup, thick soy sauce salty soup, and buckwheat cold noodles. The store recommends adding seasonings to change the taste and flavor. Adding raw garlic will make the soup more fresh and rich, while adding black pepper will make the spicy taste of the soup more satisfying. It used to be a barbecue restaurant, so the quality of the barbecued pork should be pretty good. As expected, the barbecued pork is made from the less common pork shoulder part, and tastes like ham. It is thin but chewy, and has a strong meaty flavor. The meal was quite delicious overall. I finished the whole bowl of soup. The dining environment is much more spacious and cleaner than ordinary ramen restaurants. I really can't understand why so few people eat here?
