Jiayuguan, Gansu: Experience the poetry and beauty of the ancient pass

I've finally embarked on my long-awaited journey to Jiayuguan! This northwestern pearl of Gansu has truly given me an unforgettable visual feast and spiritual cleansing, allowing me to fully experience the poetry and beauty of the ancient pass. Jiayuguan is known as the "First and Greatest Pass Under Heaven." It is the westernmost pass of the Ming Great Wall, a transportation hub on the ancient Silk Road, and one of the three great wonders of the Great Wall of China. Jiayuguan Pass City is a towering and solid city wall made of bricks and stones, exuding an ancient charm under the sunlight. Standing on the city tower and looking into the distance, you can see the boundless Gobi Desert outside the pass. The weight of history and the grandeur of the Gobi Desert are vividly displayed here. The First Pier of the Great Wall is the southernmost pier of the western Great Wall of Jiayuguan and the westernmost pier of the Ming Great Wall. This solitary pier stands silently and weathered on the edge of a cliff. Below it is the silent Taolai River Grand Canyon. The ancient pier and the spectacular canyon landscape are truly awe-inspiring. The Overhanging Great Wall, also known as the "Broken Wall," resembles a winding dragon perched on the ridge. From the top, you can see the Great Wall, desert, and mountains in distinct layers, offering a magnificent view. Donghu Lake is located in the center of Jiayuguan City. It perfectly integrates the entire city with the lake and mountain scenery, earning the reputation of the "Pearl of the Gobi." The unique meteorological tower stands by the lake, exuding a modern feel. This ecological park is a great place for leisure and sightseeing.
