Hidden in the tranquility of Hualong Village, opening the wooden door, the Zen atmosphere of a Tang-style courtyard spreads around—you see pebbles covered with moss in the dry landscape garden, stone lanterns standing beside green plants, and even the sound of the wind passing through the leaves becomes gentle. Stepping into the tatami room, the faint fresh scent of pine wood wraps you in warmth, with no unnecessary noise, only a natural sense of calm. Lying on the mattress feels like sinking into soft clouds, your waist and back firmly supported, and the fatigue from daytime travel slowly fades away. At night, there are no car horns, only the occasional sound of insects and the wind. I slept through the night without dreams until the morning sunlight gently fell on the window screen, waking me slowly. That refreshing feeling had not been experienced for a long time. The attentive care of the housekeeper added even more warmth: route guidance sent in advance, pick-up waiting at the village entrance, a delicate Ersi breakfast in the morning, and even arranging a car to the ancient town at any time... these small acts of kindness made this Shaxi trip even more precious. The hostess was warm and lovely, took many photos of me, and we felt like old friends. The next day, Friday, was Shaxi’s market day, and she took me to explore the market. Shaxi is truly so beautiful, I really love it here.
