Scottish Highlands: Unblemished Beauty

One of my most favourite places, I found myself venturing back up to Scotland again to conquer the Far North and the Highlands. For the trip, I was based in Inverness On arrival I went straight to take in the views of the River Ness on which Inverness is formed (picture 2). A fast flowing tidal river fed from the North Sea and Loch Ness. I then made my way up to Culloden Battlefield in the hopes of seeing Highland Cows. They weren't looking to socialise much that day but did manage to get a glimpse (picture 3). Day 2 I did an arranged speedboat tour of the Inverness Bay (picture 4) under the grand Kessock Bridge in the hopes of spotting dolphins. Sadly not this time, but did manage to see seals. Day 3 was a full day trip up to the Far North and the deepest Highlands of Scotland. This did not disappoint, a worthwhile stop over at Dunrobin Castle (picture 5) offered the most wonderful historical past, the knowledge that Queen Victoria enjoyed visiting the area was very intriguing. We then ventured further north, eventually reaching John O'Groats (picture 6), the (almost) furthest north tip of the UK mainland. Day 4, the final day, and I headed out to the royal burgh of Tain to take in the scenery, spotting the beautiful estuaries (picture 7). I then headed straight back to Inverness Bus Station for a guided tour of Loch Ness (picture 8) in the hopes of spotting 'Nessie' the famous Loch Ness Monster. Managed to see her almost near the end! This particular tour dropped us off at the ruined Urquhart Castle (picture 9) with unblemished Loch Ness views. I finally headed back to the Airport (picture 10) to finish a beautiful weekend in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. I'll be sure to head back here again for the third time in the near future.
