China Huaiyang Cuisine Culture Museum (Huaian, Jiangsu)

The China Huaiyang Cuisine Culture Museum is located in Huaian, Jiangsu, one of the birthplaces of Huaiyang cuisine, one of China's four major cuisines. Construction of the museum began on July 8, 2008, and it opened on October 9, 2009. It is the largest cuisine-themed cultural museum in China, covering an area of 6,500 square meters. "The beginning of ritual lies in food and drink." Rooted in Jianghuai culture, Huaiyang cuisine has a long history and rich heritage. As one of the four major cuisines in China, Huaiyang cuisine is known for its harmonious, refined, fresh, and universally appealing flavors. With its emphasis on local ingredients, meticulous preparation, balanced flavors, and origins in everyday cooking, it has earned the reputation of being "the best flavor in the southeast and the most delicious in the world." Huaian is one of the main birthplaces of Huaiyang cuisine. As one of the earliest inhabited areas in Jiangsu, Huaian has a moderate climate, is surrounded by rivers and lakes, and boasts abundant food resources, providing a solid foundation for creating delicious dishes. In ancient times, Qinghe played an important role in the prosperity of Huaiyang cuisine, especially during the Ming and Qing dynasties. As a "thoroughfare of nine provinces" and a "major salt distribution center," it attracted officials, merchants, and wealthy businessmen, and its bustling population greatly promoted the innovation of cooking techniques and the flourishing development of food culture.
