It’s been a long time since we had a dinner for four people. Wo Fu and his friends got together to celebrate the birthdays of those friends who had birthdays in February and April. April’s star chose Isono Suisan in Causeway Bay, which has various chef recommendations written on the wall. Soon after we sat down, the waiter brought the appetizers. The vegetable strips were fresh and crisp, and they were eaten with fish sauce, which had a nice combination of strong and light flavors. While waiting for someone, I ordered a plate of fried chicken cartilage, which I couldn't stop eating. A group of four people ordered a meal for two at Isono ($1888), and some of the food can be increased to a portion for four people for an additional fee. After we placed the order, the waiter brought us the fresh lobster for us to take photos. The first dish for the meal for two is green apple and crab roe salad. The green apple has a more sour and sweet taste than the commonly used cucumber, which makes the salad more layered in flavor. The roasted chicken and dried fish were cooked just right, not too dry or hard, but a bit salty. I chose two dishes from the live lobster. First, the beautifully presented lobster sashimi was very fresh and sweet. Each person had a bowl of clam soup, each clam was plump and full of flavor. When the Kagoshima Wagyu Hokkien was served, the waiter suggested that it be eaten quickly to prevent the Wagyu from being overcooked. Wagyu beef is very fat-rich and has a rich meaty flavor. After eating Wagyu beef, it was time for the sashimi sushi boxes. One box was enough for two people, with one boiled abalone, two pieces of salmon sashimi, two red shrimps, and three types of sushi, namely black truffle scallop sushi, snow crab meat sushi, and grilled fish sushi. The salmon sashimi was cut thickly and the red shrimps were quite large. They were sweet and delicious and very satisfying. All three types of sushi are delicious, and Waffles particularly likes the black truffle scallop sushi. The crab roe and scallop fried rice was generous in portion, had plenty of wok flavor, and was still smoking hot when shared.
