Hong Kong｜Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street

Lei Yue Mun, a name I've heard countless times from many people, yet I have never visited even once. Maybe it's because I also live by the sea and feel that every seaside place is pretty much the same! Finally, recently I had some business near Lei Yue Mun, so I took the chance to stroll around and see if the scenery here is different from other seaside cities. 🎏 Lei Yue Mun is located around Devil’s Peak and Jau Wan in Kwun Tong District, and it is one of the straits in Hong Kong. On the other side of the Lei Yue Mun Strait is Shau Kei Wan. With a history of over 150 years, Lei Yue Mun’s former villagers were mostly farmers, fishermen, and miners. (There is a stone quarry here, which I will introduce in detail later 😊) As the quarry was abandoned, many restaurants gradually appeared in the fishing village, which has now developed into the Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street. 🦞🦐🦀 Walking along Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street, it feels like you can never reach the end. (Because there are so many seafood restaurants here that it can be dazzling.) As we walked to a fork in the road, the shop owner kindly reminded us that there was no path that way. 😂 Just keep walking straight along Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street; there’s no need to turn into other alleys. If you find seafood you love, you can stop and support the restaurant. On weekdays during the day, the seafood restaurants don’t have many tourists. It was only when we left at dusk that we saw many foreigners gradually arriving here to enjoy seafood. 🎏🎏🎏 Midway through Seafood Street, there are several nostalgic pastry shops. The owners were very enthusiastic and gave us many free samples to try. You only buy if you like it. (Usually, the free samples are the most expensive items. After tasting, we found them so delicious that we bought a lot. 🙈) Spicy pork jerky, almond cookies, walnuts, egg biscuits, maltose biscuits… all were very tasty. Especially the spicy pork jerky and walnuts, they were so good we couldn’t stop eating. 😂 When the shop packed our purchases, they also gave us several pieces of hawthorn strips and peanut sesame crisps, showing great hospitality. ❤️🔥 For tourist areas, it’s really best not to be too commercialized. Preserving the cultural value makes visitors more likely to think, “I must come back next time!” 😊 📍Address: Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street, Lei Yue Mun Waterfront Road, Hong Kong Transportation: 1: MTR 🚇 Kwun Tong Line, “Yau Tong Station” Exit A1, walk straight through the outside of apm mall to the “Island Circular Bus” ticket office, exit through the right door, go down the stairs, then walk straight ahead for 10-15 minutes to “Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street.” 2: 🚢 Take the Coral Sea Nostalgic Ferry from Sai Wan Ho Pier on Hong Kong Island to Sam Ka Tsuen Ferry Pier. 3: From Kwun Tong MTR Station Exit A1 or C3, walk to the “Yu Man Square” public transport interchange and take the red minibus to “Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street.” The terminus is right at the Lei Yue Mun archway. Great place for a one-day trip!
