Western Market

For those who enjoy in-depth travel, exploring Hong Kong's historical landmarks and unique architecture is a great option. One such destination is Western Market. Located in Sheung Wan, it serves as one of the tram terminals and can be reached by taking the tram along Des Voeux Road Central. It's less than a 10-minute walk from Sheung Wan MTR station. Western Market is the oldest surviving market building in Hong Kong, constructed with red bricks. It features granite archways and distinctive corner towers, making it both beautiful and intricate. Built in 1906, it was originally a vegetable market frequented by locals in the area. The market ceased operations in 1988 and remained vacant until it was renovated and reopened in 1991. Today, it houses numerous coffee shops, restaurants, antique stores, and fabric specialty shops relocated from nearby old streets.
