Tokio Joe in Central, Hong Kong

Enjoying a weekend where you can wake up naturally calls for a rich brunch to treat yourself. Last weekend, I visited Tokio Joe, a Japanese restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong, for their weekend brunch. The set includes a platter of sashimi, flounder dishes, a main course, and unlimited appetizers, sushi rolls, grilled items, fried dishes, and desserts. The table was filled with food—truly a feast. The sashimi highlight was the fatty tuna belly, rich in oil, and the large Hokkaido scallops. The flounder sashimi was fresh and flavorful, with abundant fish oil. For appetizers, we ordered two more sashimi dishes—salmon and yellowtail. However, both were paired with yuzu vinegar, making their flavors quite similar. I’d recommend trying different preparation methods. The spicy tuna tartare was a good choice, with a nice kick of spice. For sushi rolls, we tried the "Shrimp Tempura Sashimi Roll" and the "Original Soft-Shell Crab Avocado Roll." Both were generously filled and beautifully crafted. Grilled items are a must-try, especially the "Japanese Chicken Wings" and "Chicken Thigh Meat," which were satisfyingly meaty. The "Beef Tongue" was thick and juicy, while the "Minced Chicken Skewers" dipped in egg sauce were incredibly flavorful. For fried dishes, we focused on the "Tempura Prawns," freshly fried and dipped in hot soy sauce. They were crispy, sweet, and absolutely delicious. For the main course, we chose the "A5 Saga Wagyu Thin Slices," which perfectly blended the aroma of oil and meat. The "Lobster Soup Seafood Ramen" was ideal for lobster soup lovers like me.
