The Man Mo Temple is one of the most famous historical buildings in Hong Kong, located at 124-126 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan. The temple was built between 1847 and 1862 and is one of the earliest Chinese temples built in the early days of Hong Kong. The Wenwu Temple consists of three buildings: the Wenwu Temple, the Liesheng Palace and the Public Office. The main deities enshrined are Wenchang Emperor (Emperor Wen) and Guansheng Emperor (Emperor Wu), representing literature and military strategy respectively. 🚇Transportation: • Exit F of Admiralty MTR Station, transfer to bus No. 26 and get off at Man Mo Temple Hollywood Road Station. • Exit D2 of Central MTR Station, walk along Queen's Road Central towards The Center and take the Central to Mid-Levels escalator. • Take Exit A2 of Sheung Wan MTR Station, walk along Hillier Street to Queen's Road Central, turn right, and walk up the staircase street next to Lok Ku Road for about 5 minutes to Hollywood Road. ⏰Opening hours: • Usually 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, open early to 7:00 am on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar calendar and birthdays. 🤩Featured Activities: • Autumn Sacrifice Ceremony: Held in the ninth month of the lunar calendar every year, to thank Emperor Wen and Emperor Wu and to pray for the blessing of Hong Kong. • Wenchang Birthday: The third day of the second lunar month, pray for academic progress. • Yulan Parade: Held after the Yulan Festival, the parade travels around the “Four Rings” (Western District, Sheung Wan, Central District and Lower District). 🥳Visit highlights: • Exquisite pottery sculptures, granite carvings, wood carvings, stucco sculptures and murals. • Centenary artifacts, such as a bronze bell from the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty and an official sedan chair from the first year of the Tongzhi reign. • Traditional Chinese folk architecture, showcasing the brick carving and pottery craftsmanship of the Lingnan region. 📒Cultural significance: • The Man Mo Temple is not only a place of religious belief, but also a place for deliberation and arbitration for the Chinese community, and has important historical and social significance. 🌍Nearby attractions: • The nearby Antique Street and Cat Street Market are also popular places for tourists. ⚠️Notes: • Please respect local religious customs when visiting. • You can ask for divination for yourself or your family, but please voluntarily give an appropriate donation.
