One of Shatin's landmarks - Shing Mun River

The 7-kilometre-long Shing Mun River is one of the symbols of Sha Tin. It flows from Shing Mun Reservoir, through Tai Wai, Sha Tin town centre, and Fo Tan, a large historic housing estate in Sha Tin, to the Sha Tin Sea and becomes part of Tolo Harbour. The two banks of Chengmen River are connected by bridges, including Shayan Bridge, Cuirong Bridge, and Shuangzi Bridge. There are parks and recreational facilities of various sizes on both sides of the Tongzhi River, as well as cycling and walking trails. Due to the serious pollution of Shing Mun River in the past, it was dubbed a stinky river, but after great efforts to improve it, the water quality of Shing Mun River has finally improved. Shing Mun River also provides a place for residents to engage in recreational activities, including cycling and jogging. During the annual Dragon Boat Festival, a large number of citizens and tourists gather on both sides of the river and on the bridge to enjoy the exciting dragon boat race. #Good place for families
