On a street lined with storehouses, one block away along the Handa Canal, there is a shrine called Nariha Shrine. This is where the Matsuo Shrine, the guardian deity of sake brewing and the Funatama Shrine, which is in charge of maritime safety, are enshrined. Due to its location, the Handa Canal was once used to transport goods from the sea, so the shrine is dedicated to the safety of the sea. Also, next to this shrine is a sake brewery called "Kunimori," which symbolizes Handa, the city of brewing, so the guardian deity of sake brewing is enshrined there.
