[Gifu] A historic castle watched over by Oda Nobunaga's base

Gifu Castle is located on the summit of Mount Kinka in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, and is considered one of Japan's famous castles. In 1567, Oda Nobunaga used Gifu Castle as his base to unify the country. This castle was originally built by the Toki clan, and was later renovated by Nobunaga himself. Gifu Castle is characterized by its location on top of a mountain, which gave it a very strong defensive capability during the Sengoku period and a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Nowadays, the view from the observation deck is wonderful, with views of the Naga River, the scenery, and even the snow-capped mountains of the Northern Alps.
