When ancient architecture meets snowflakes

Delicate snowflakes drift through the cracks of the southern city wall's bricks, finally settling on the gatehouse of the Fengqi Courtyard in the Prefecture School. The new Chinese-style flying eaves gently embrace the pure white snowflakes, creating a perfect frame of ancient architecture and winter snow. Pushing open the courtyard gate embedded with zodiac beast heads, the glass skylight filters the wind and snow into scattered spots of light. The red lanterns under the corridor are kissed by snow, producing blurred light patches that reflect against the snow on the blue brick ground. Stepping out of the courtyard into the snow, five hundred meters west lies Shanhuasi Temple. The red walls reflect the white snow, and the Liao and Jin dynasty bracket sets, like lotus flowers, support the accumulated snow, echoing the modern Chinese lines of the Fengqi Courtyard. Returning to the courtyard, the tea table is already warm with hot tea. Through the window lattice, snowflakes fall on the glass of the skylight, and distant footsteps echo sporadically from the ancient city wall. Suddenly, it becomes clear that the snow in Datong is never just a simple scene. It gives the Fengqi Courtyard’s new charm an ancient meaning, adds vitality to the old traces of the ancient city, and in the moment the snow falls, the past and present complete a silent dialogue here.
