Not a great castle, but an important part of Spanish history

Andalucia Tour Extra: Cycling Tour from Cordoba to Jaén Castillo del Río looks like a majestic fortress in an already walled town. A staunch tradition can be felt in both the fabric of the city and the character of the Castellenos, but with its origins in the 12th-century Almohad Castle. From Piazza dei Artisani you can enjoy the most beautiful views, including the square towers and the castle. Inside the cylindrical tower there is a cistern and on the wall we can see a schematic diagram of a radio from the Spanish Civil War, as the castle was used as a radio broadcasting point. We can also see the main square which is used for cultural events.
