Mezquita

Travelogue of Andalusia Part 4🇪🇸 Mezquita, a World Heritage Site in Cordoba. "Mezquita" means "mosque" in Spanish. Despite this, this building is officially a "cathedral". In other words, it is a very rare building in that a Christian cathedral was built inside a building that was an Islamic mosque (the largest mosque in the world at the time) during the course of history. It is a mysterious space where you feel an Islamic atmosphere in a space with red and white arches that you often see in guidebooks, and then suddenly the scenery changes to the inside of a cathedral. The Jewish quarter in the city, a historical district that is also a World Heritage Site, also creates a good atmosphere with the combination of small flower bowls and white houses. In the city of Cordoba, where the atmosphere of the three religions of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism is mixed, I fell into a strange feeling I had never experienced before, and it was a good opportunity to deepen my knowledge of each religion.
