Wat Tha Kok (Chiang Khan District)

Wat Tha Kok stands out for its unique architecture, blending arts from various cultures influenced by the Mekong River basin. Old Ubosot (Sim): The Ubosot is a brick and mortar structure in the Lan Xang and Rattanakosin styles. The most striking feature is the decorative patterns, which incorporate French styles, particularly on the façade and window frames. These are believed to have been influenced by the French presence in Laos (the Mekong River basin). Inside, a principal Buddha image, in the Mara-Vijaya posture, is enshrined in the Lan Xang stucco style, revered by the people of Chiang Khan. The wooden ceiling inside the Ubosot features beautiful ancient paintings. Ancient Stone Inscription: In front of the chapel, there is a stone inscription that records the temple's construction in the Isan Dhamma script, an important historical document.
