[Bologna, Italy] Basilica of San Petronio

#FreeHotelStay The seventh largest cathedral in Europe, dedicated to San Petronio, the patron saint of Bologna. Construction began in 1388 and was completed in 1390 by Antonio Vincenzo, an Italian late Gothic architect. The façade is decorated with pink and white marble and sculptures from the base to the middle, but ends abruptly at the fourth level. If the entire façade had been made of marble, it would have blended with the colors of Piazza Maggiore and would have been even more beautiful. Inside the cathedral is the Magi Chapel (admission required), decorated by the Bolognese noble family Ventiboli. On the south side, the journey of the Ventiboli family to Jerusalem to show their adoration of Christ is depicted, and on the north side, heaven and hell are depicted.
