Itinerary: I bought a ticket for the Beijing Tourist Distribution Center - Mutianyu special line (round-trip fare is 80 per person) in advance on the WeChat mini program. It is a small bus that departs from Qianmen Street and stops at Shaoyaoju Subway Station. The bus will only depart when it is full (the wait here is a bit long, so if you are in a hurry to get to the Great Wall, I don't recommend it). The bus officially departs for the expressway at around 9:30 am and arrives at the foot of the Great Wall at around 10:45 am. Route: There will be a tour guide on the bus who will introduce the history and overall route of the Mutianyu Great Wall. You can choose the east or west route. The east route is basically a cable car + slide, while the west route is a cable car (round-trip fare is 140 per person, plus a scenic area ticket of 40 per person). The west route is higher than the east route, with an altitude of 1,039 meters, and offers better views and scenery. Before departure, we also considered taking the west route cable car up, then walking to the east route and taking the slide down. However, it was too cold and time was limited, so we chose the west route. The complete route is cable car up - viewing platform - 14th watchtower - 20th watchtower - 14th watchtower - cable car down. Photo spots: Viewing platform - "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man" 15th watchtower - "If You Are the One" filming location, witness love 16th-17th watchtower, you can see the Oriental Dragon winding on the ridge and the words "Loyal to Chairman Mao" 19th-20th watchtower - "Hero Slope", great for taking photos! The top of the 20th watchtower is the most difficult to climb, with a slope of 75 degrees. You really have to use both hands and feet to climb up, check in at the "Hero Platform", and slowly slide down on your buttocks when coming down. Climb to the top of the 20th watchtower and feel the view of the mountains. Beyond that is the undeveloped wild Great Wall. Friendly reminder: It is recommended to bring your own snacks, water, drinks, etc. Our route took 4 hours in total, and you need to eat something to replenish your energy during the process. If you don't bring anything, there will be some local people setting up stalls around the 16th watchtower, which can be considered a small supply station, selling snacks, chocolate, water, milk tea, beer, souvenirs, etc. In short, the experience of the Mutianyu Great Wall is very good! There are not many people, and there are more compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and foreigners. Overall, you don't have to wait to take photos, and the photos turn out great.
