In 2006, Suzhou embroidery (Suzhou embroidery) was selected as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Looking at the development of Suzhou embroidery art, there are extraordinary creations in every historical period. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Suzhou embroidery showed a closer connection with the times on a broader stage, serving the socialist construction and the people's better life with great vitality, and the continuous breakthrough of self, endless artistic creativity, and formed a new look of today's inclusive, blooming, and wonderful. "Suzhou Embroidery Art Document Exhibition (1949—2019)" has collected the excellent works of Suzhou embroidery art in various periods since the founding of New China 70 years ago. These works have rich themes, exquisite craftsmanship, and diverse styles. They not only reflect the extraordinary artistic level, but also systematically show the development process of Suzhou embroidery in the continuous innovation of materials, crafts, themes, styles, etc. on the basis of inheriting excellent traditions; at the same time, the exhibition also gathered a batch of precious embroidery patterns, embroidery drafts and literature materials, revealing the technical "core" of Suzhou embroidery and the generation trajectory of its artistic appearance from multiple angles and levels, making the exhibition more vivid, comprehensive, and in-depth presentation of the beauty of Suzhou embroidery craftsmanship, exploration thoughts and innovative spirit. Many of the exhibits are displayed to the public for the first time.
