Skywalk: The Most Popular Photo Spot in Chiang Khan
The Chiang Khan Skywalk is a popular tourist attraction where people come to pay respects to the Big Buddha and take photos of the Mekong River. From the skywalk, you can enjoy a stunning view of the river that marks the border. The walkway is made of transparent glass, offering an exhilarating experience. It's a perfect spot for photos with the glass floor, mountains, and river views. This is one of the must-visit places in Chiang Khan, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
The entrance fee for the Chiang Khan Skywalk is 60 Baht per person.
Chiang Khan Skywalk, Pak Tom Subdistrict, Chiang Khan District, Loei Province
Ban Kham Prai, accommodation in Chiang Khan.
During this trip to Chiang Khan, we stayed at Ban Kham Prai. There are a total of six rooms available. We chose a room with a view of the Mekong River for 1,500 baht per night, which can accommodate two people. The house is made of wood, and inside the room, there is a bed, a bathroom, a TV, and even a refrigerator. The bed faces the Mekong River, so if you wake up, you'll be greeted by the beautiful river view right away. They also provide a breakfast coupon for 50 baht, and the breakfast restaurant is right next door. Ban Kham Prai is located in Soi 16, right off the main road.

Chiangkhan 2.1
Phu Thok is one of the most beautiful mountains in the northeast of Thailand. It’s 15 mins drive from Chiangkhan center. It’s very very crowded during Thai long weekend holiday. We arrived around 6Am, the line for ticket was very long, the line for local vehicles to go up was also very long, the line for photo spots at the top was very very long.
It’s super crowded, barely have peaceful time to enjoy the sunrise. No photo opportunity since people would block the view.
Entrance fee + transportation = 40 Baht
Parking fee = 20 Baht
Chiangkhan 1.2
Chiangkhan walking street is Chiangkhan itself. Visiting Chiangkhan means visiting Chiangkhan walking street. We went there during long weekend, it was too crowded.
The houses at the walking street are quite charming, looking like they are dated back 100 years ago. There are hundreds of food stalls and souvenirs shops to choose from. Yet, there are too many people so it’s kind of lose its old charm.
Huean Luang Prabang is one of the best restaurants there. There is a line when we got there, but the restaurant managed the crowds quite well so we haven’t wait that long.
Mekong River and Kaeng Khut Khu View
From Chiangkhan Hill Resort and Hotel we can see the beautiful scenery of Mekong River and Kaeng Khut Khu. It’s nice to wake up with a beautiful scenery like here. This place is not that far from the city centre and the walking street is just nearby.

Tao Kae Lao is a lovely cozy guesthouse with only 3 rooms: downstairs river view, upstairs river view and upstairs duplex (the one in my photos). The owner is very friendly and advisory. You will enjoy walking or riding by the Mekong River and having some Thai local street food at Chiang Khan walking street in the evening. There is also a morning activity, the tradition of almsgiving with sticky rice which you can experience right in front of the guesthouse. #guesthouse #chiangkhan #loei
Chiang Khan, Loei - Thailand: A peaceful city with local wooden house style near by Mekong river. The opposite side of the river is Laos. At night time there will be a walking street probably only on weekend with several food & drinks and local shops.
Phu Thok Sea of Mist
Phu Thok is another must-visit check-in point for anyone traveling to Chiang Khan. Most people go up Phu Thok in the morning. There is a viewpoint here where you can see the sea of mist. However, you cannot ride a vehicle up; there are local vehicles available at the bottom. The highlight of visiting Phu Thok to see the sea of mist is to go up around 5:30 AM to about 8:00 AM. This is when the sea of mist is still present. If you go later, you will still get to enjoy beautiful views instead. The amount of mist varies, so it's a bit of a gamble.
Phu Kwai Ngern, Loei province, Thailand
If you happened to be in Chiangmai Khan in Loei, you can visit this cultural place as it’s a temple up on the hill.
There’s Buddha’s footprint in the temple.
You will get to feed cute rabbits as well.

💗Guest Experience#Kickback I started my kickback travel project after I reached 55th years old. First place to travel was Penang, followed by Shanghai, then Phu Ruea and now Chiangkhan. I was thinking of buying land and build my own house in this area as peoples are so friendly and wheather is great. I have come to Chiangkhan many times and cycle with my son since he was 1 year old..now he is 10 years old, we are driving to Vientiane later today. Suneta is my favourite hostel in Chiangkhan, right next to good restaurants and massage shop.

It is considered an important sacred religious site, a symbol of Loei Province. in the area of Wat Phra Phutthabat Phu Kwai Ngern, there is a chapel enshrining the Buddha's footprint on a sharp stone, which has a crack but no inscription, looking like a real Buddha footprint. there is also a large white stucco statue of Luang Pho Than Chai for worship. another outstanding thing that catches the eyes of visitors is the stucco statue of a silver Buffalo located at the entrance to the temple. The atmosphere is shady and beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit.

This is the first hotel in Chiang Khan. The entire building is made of wood. Downstairs, there are handmade bags and crafts made from plastic bottles. The service is friendly and impressive. The accommodation is peaceful with a good atmosphere, close to the Mekong River and just 200 meters from the walking street. You can offer alms right in front of the hotel. The service is excellent. Sunset at Chiang Khan
Chiang Khan is another place where the evening atmosphere is very pleasant. The sun sets over the Mekong River, creating an incredibly romantic scene. You can stroll and admire the beautiful evening light, shop at the walking street, and enjoy a variety of food. It's a place you can visit in any season. If you're looking for a relaxing destination, Chiang Khan is highly recommended.
Phu Thok Sunrise Viewpoint
📍Phu Thok, Chiang Khan, Loei Province
This is one of the easiest sea of mist viewpoints to reach, as it is the closest to the city. The community's shuttle point is only 6 km from Chiang Khan Walking Street, or just a 10-minute drive. Personally, I took a Skylab (three-wheeled vehicle) from my accommodation to the shuttle point for 100 baht per person. From there, we took the viewpoint's shuttle service to the top for 25 baht round trip. There are plenty of vehicles, and they depart even if not full.
At the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view and find a spot to take photos. 📸
Skywalk Chiang Khan
The 'Skywalk Chiang Khan' or 'Skywalk Phu Khok Ngiew' is located in Ban Tha Dee Mee, Pak Tom Subdistrict, Chiang Khan District, Loei Province. Be prepared for shaky legs because this skywalk stands over 80 meters above the Mekong River, equivalent to a 30-story building. The walkway is made of special clear glass, 2 meters wide and over 100 meters long, supported by steel grating. There is also the Great Phra Khok Ngiew, a 19-meter-tall Buddha statue in the blessing posture, made of fiber mixed with gold resin, which is another symbol of this landmark. The surrounding scenery offers a breathtaking view, and below, you can see the Hueang River merging with the Mekong River, clearly showing the contrasting colors of the two rivers. This river also marks the border between Thailand and Laos. It is a must-visit check-in spot for tourists visiting Loei Province.
Wat Phra Phutthabat Phu Khuai Ngoen, Chiang Khan, Loei Province.
I saw this temple on the Chiang Khan travel list, and since it's on the way from Chiang Khan to Nong Khai Province, I decided to stop by to pay respects to the Buddha (and to see the rabbits too 🤩).
The journey is easy; the entrance is right off the main road. The drive up the hill is not steep, and the parking lot is spacious.
Upon arrival, it was clear that this is an important temple. We went in to pay respects to the Buddha and see the Buddha's footprint, then went to see the rabbits. There are so many! I wonder if they are intentionally raised or if someone released them here. 😁

The staff warmly and friendly welcome guests, ensuring a relaxing and comfortable stay. Guests can also enjoy walking, cycling, or renting a motorcycle from the accommodation during their check-in. Beautiful and relaxing place
Chiang Khan Ep.2
Chiang Khan remains one of those places that almost every time the cold wind brushes against my skin, I find myself thinking of it. I reminisce about its simplicity, the people, the atmosphere of the town amidst the morning mist where everyone lines up to give alms to the monks. I miss the lively night scene, bustling with food, souvenirs, and people in the walking street.
In fact, 'Chiang Khan' also has plenty of food, souvenirs, must-visit shops, cozy cafes, and photo spots. I assure you, if you ever get the chance to visit, you'll fall in love with it for sure.
Beautiful city chiangkhan
This planning is such a beautiful place that I never visited since I came to this city it changes a lot if you have a opportunity to visit Thailand you must go to chiangkhan#chiangkhan
