Carlisle, a city located in the northwest of England near the Scottish border, was just a mark on the map before I set off. I knew very little about it and even felt a bit apprehensive, worrying that it might be a dull and boring city. However, Carlisle, with its unique charm, gave me a journey full of surprises and emotions.
The first impression of Carlisle was its fresh air and tranquil atmosphere. Compared to bustling cities, it felt particularly quiet and peaceful here, with the scent of earth and grass filling the air, making me feel refreshed. The sunlight illuminated the ancient textures of the red brick buildings and warmed my heart. This comfortable atmosphere immediately relieved my travel fatigue, preparing me for the adventures ahead.
Our first stop was Bitts Park in Carlisle. This park is vast, with lush green grass and dense trees, like a sea of green. We strolled through the park, admiring the scenery along the way and marveling at the wonders of nature. There is a beautiful lake in the park, with crystal-clear water reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, creating a picturesque scene. We sat by the lake for a while, quietly enjoying the view, feeling the gentle breeze on our faces, and listening to the birds singing. Some wild ducks were leisurely playing by the lake, their figures blending with the beautiful landscape, creating a lovely picture.
In the afternoon, we went to the city center of Carlisle. The architecture here is quaint and elegant, with many buildings retaining their old styles, featuring red brick walls and pointed roofs, exuding the romantic charm of the English countryside. The city center has many shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a restaurant, with fresh ingredients and exquisite cooking skills. After lunch, we wandered around the city center, admiring the surroundings and feeling the city's vitality. We also discovered an independent bookstore filled with a wide variety of books. We browsed for a long time and found some books we liked, buying a few to take home. The bookstore owner, a very friendly old gentleman, enthusiastically recommended some local authors and books, giving us a deeper understanding of Carlisle's culture.
In the evening, we went to the banks of the River Eden in Carlisle. The scenery here is very beautiful, with the winding River Eden flowing through the city, and the riverbanks lined with lush trees and blooming flowers. We strolled along the river, enjoying the scenery and feeling the gentle breeze on our faces. There are some bars and restaurants by the river. We chose a riverside bar and enjoyed a delicious dinner. The bar's atmosphere was very relaxed and lively. We chatted with some locals, feeling their warmth and friendliness. They told us some interesting stories about Carlisle, giving us a deeper understanding of the city. After dinner, we strolled along the river, admiring the night view and feeling the city's tranquility and peace.
The next day, we decided to explore the countryside around Carlisle. We rented bicycles and rode along winding paths through the green fields. The gentle breeze on our faces and the sunlight on our faces felt incredibly pleasant. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with green meadows, blooming flowers, and leisurely grazing cattle and sheep, creating a pastoral scene. We rode along the country roads, marveling at the wonders of nature and feeling the tranquility and peace of the countryside. Along the way, we encountered a group of adorable little lambs, with fluffy coats and clear eyes, looking like elves from fairy tales. We couldn't resist stopping to take photos with them.
On our last night in Carlisle, we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at a restaurant recommended by the locals. The dishes were very delicious, with fresh ingredients and exquisite cooking skills. We savored the food while reminiscing about the past few days' journey, feeling grateful and moved. When leaving Carlisle, my heart was filled with reluctance. This city, which I had no concept of initially, gave me so many surprises and emotions.
