Halloween weekend in Carlisle

I was surprised how pleasant and varied the architecture is in Carlisle. On the way to the main shopping centre from the rail station I noticed that most restaurants & venues were full of revellers celebrating Halloween, some in costume. Some of the architecture was from a bygone age & quite varied in its ages. Somehow they seemed quite compatible and at home next to one another. The older castle like structures seemed to marry with the more modern white buildings and the area was pleasing to the eye. I hadn’t really known what to expect on my first visit to Carlisle but I wasn’t prepared to find it as pleasant as it was.
