Since its opening in 2011, it has received 170,000 backpackers from 100 countries and is the most popular hostel for backpackers in Kunming.

"This was my first time staying at a hostel from this chain, the one near Kunming's Zhuanxin Farmers Market, and I remember it had a beautiful bougainvillea bush!
I chose Qincheng Hostel again, this time picking this specific branch because it's super close to Cuihu Lake, Wenlin Street, and Yunnan University. Their restaurant offers a great variety of food and drinks, and I particularly love their curry beef rice. There are activities every day, and especially on Saturday nights, they have a concert. The singer's voice is unique and beautiful, and listening to music in their cozy bar is just the most comfortable experience. 'Hei Mu Ya' (Blackwood Cliff) is their elevated platform, nestled among huge eucalyptus trees. It's really peaceful on rainy days and nice and cool when it's hot."

"This was my second time visiting Kunming, and also my second stay at Yajv. I have to give it a full 5 stars!
Yajv is right near Kunming Station. If you exit the North Plaza and walk straight to your right for about five minutes, you'll be there. It's located within a residential complex, a three-story building, with a supermarket downstairs and plenty of places to eat.
The rooms at Yajv are clean, cozy, and comfortable. The mattresses are very soft, and they clean the bedding after every guest. The rooms are spacious, with ample room beyond just the bed. Each bed has a privacy curtain, and everyone gets a locker for their belongings, which requires your room key to open – offering great privacy. Plus, no outside food is allowed in the rooms!
The bathrooms are communal and separate for men and women. The women's restroom has double doors and offers 24-hour hot water. The water pressure is fantastic! This is so important for us Guangxi people! Guangxi people have to shower every day!!
What I loved most were the communal space on the second floor and the large balcony on the third floor, both great places to relax. The second floor is non-smoking; you can watch people and cars go by outside the window, read a book, or even ask the owner for a cup of tea. He hasn't priced his tea yet, so just be a bit cheeky, it doesn't cost anything to ask.
In the living room on the second floor, there's a wall with a cloth or something hanging, covered in drawings. The owner and his friends designed and painted them themselves – they're totems. There are sun patterns, bronze drums, frogs… symbols representing the natural and animal worship of primitive tribes. Here, you might find yourself having many 'wild and imaginative' thoughts.
The rooftop on the third floor is very breezy and comfortable. In early summer, you can see the lush green trees growing freely. You might even find a dog zoning out with you, though it could also be that he's hidden a bone upstairs and is watching to see if anyone is going to dig it up – hard to tell what they're thinking.
Another enjoyable trip to Kunming, I'll be back next time!"

"The service was great! The front desk attendants went above and beyond to give me recommendations in the area for my specific wants/needs and also helped me with using the laundry services as it is not easy for people without a Chinese phone number to access. The food was decently priced and really quite good! The only thing I didn't love is that there weren't any outside areas that were non-smoking, even the outside dining area. I'm aware that it's very common in China to smoke in restaurants, so I can't be too upset about it. The hostel was really quite beautiful with the lovely plants and the bright paint colors."

"The hostel is in an excellent location. The manager is very kind and always tries to help. The place is clean, the beds are large and comfortable, and the common areas are great and perfect for meeting people. There are Western-style toilets, and the staff speaks English, which is a big plus for me. It doesn’t smell like cigarette smoke (which can be common in China), and quiet hours are respected. I would definitely stay here again."

"The location is easy to find, in a fairly lively neighborhood. I booked a six-person female dorm, but the ceiling light was dim, and there were no bedside lamps. The owner kindly changed me to a four-person dorm, which was much better; the room was bright, each bed had a bedside lamp, and the girls had their own bathroom. The room's cleanliness was so-so; there were clumps of hair on the floor and discarded paper on the cabinets, which partly depends on the guests' behavior."

"It seems like a young couple is running this place and they are really cute. They keep the place as clean as possible. Very central location. Nice views as mentioned by others. The map position is correct but entering the building is a hassle. During daytime, I sometimes wait together with others for someone to exit the building so I can enter. I checked in by annoying the sleeping security guy who showed me the way to the hostel. There is no information upfront, no signs whatsoever. There could at least be a message with instructions (24th floor, turn left). There is a kettle for boiling your own drinking water. They could make a few extra bucks by providing a fridge with drinks. Not sure if there are towels, but I wasn't given any. Average Chinese-style squat toilet which is on par with any other Asian country around 30 years ago. Didn't meet a whole lot of people here."

Transportation around the city is also convenient, with Kunming Railway Station Metro Station within walking distance. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Jinri Building, Baohai Park and Future Zoo, Kunming Joy City all nearby. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. This Kunming hotel offers parking on site. According to our guests, the location of this hotel is one of the best around.
"Location was great that it was a walk away from the Kunming Railway Station where I needed to be to leave the city. I liked how it was near a lot of food places! The volunteer Evens was an interesting person to talk to when I learned about his background in what he does as an occupation and where he is originally from in China. The owner Winni was a nice person as well and I appreciated and enjoy her and some of the other guests that cooked for us the night that we had a big dinner. Thank you for being part of the chef crew Winni. Everybody who stayed at the place was respectful and considered towards one another in the way that they conducted themselves. Was able to go along with the rules of this hostel because it fit my daily habits. Nobody had any habits that bothered me.
Not really into the hostel type of stays, due to lack of privacy. Was just happy to stay at this place since it was pretty much right at the doorstep of the Kunming Railway station where I can catch my train on time where I wouldn't end up getting lost in the city which in turn would end up missing it.
The only negative thing that I didn't like was that the bathroom did not have bath towels and just regular hand towels where I would not be able to dry myself very well after showering. Because of this I didn't want to take a shower at this place and the fact that these towels were used repeatedly from other guests, which made me feel uncomfortable wanting to use it. Would come back to this Hostel again if I happen to have to come back to Kunming again where I needed to be near this train station to catch at train there."

"🤗昆明站旁的寶藏青旅！不僅乾淨到令人髮指，這個觀景吧枱我能坐一天！
這次來昆明中轉，原本衹想隨便湊合一晚，沒想到在親戚的推薦下住進了這家青旅，體驗感直接拉滿，必須寫個長評誇一誇！
❤️關於衞生——潔癖患者的福音。
一進門最震撼的就是那個大型消毒櫃！真的不是擺設，親眼看着老闆把洗完的床單被套放進去高温消毒，拿出來的布草都是熱乎乎的，帶着一股太陽曬過的安心味道。對於出門在外最怕小蟲子和細菌的我來説，這一點直接滿分。房間打掃得一塵不染，地面反光，空氣裏沒有異味，這點真的比很多快捷酒店都強。
❤️關於便利——行李黨的天堂。
進門處那個超大的免費貨架簡直是神來之筆。坐火車到昆明站，如果還沒到入住時間或者退房後還想出去玩，大箱子往貨架上一扔就行，不用拖着箱子滿大街跑，也不用額外花錢存包，太人性化了。
❤️關於洗浴——高峯期的從容。
這裏居然有五個衞生間！而且配備的是空氣動力熱水器。懂得都懂，住青旅最怕排隊上廁所洗澡，這裏完全不存在。熱水是全天候保障的，哪怕是半夜抵達或者凌晨趕火車，擰開水龍頭幾秒鐘熱水就來，水壓超大，洗去一身疲憊的感覺太爽了。
❤️關於氛圍——三號房的窗景絕了。
重點吹爆三號房的咖啡吧枱！這是老闆的一個巧思，坐在吧枱高腳椅上，捧一杯手沖，窗外就是俯瞰昆明站北廣場的絕佳視角。看樓下的人流車流，看遠處的天際線，特別適合發呆，或者和不認識的朋友在這小聚，暢談人生旅途中的故事。每個房間都有獨立桌椅，寫手賬、辦公都很方便。
❤️關於生活氣——門口的江湖。
門口外面的區域也被利用得很好，擺了幾張桌椅，專門給想吃飯、吸煙、深夜聊天的住客準備的。晚上買點燒烤，吹着昆明的晚風，在這和天南海北的驢友吹牛，這才是青旅該有的人情味。生活極其方便，樓下就是便利店。
🎈這不是一家冷冰冰的床位旅館，而是一個有温度、有設計、衞生過硬的歇腳地。下次來昆明，還住這！"

"First time staying at a youth hostel, and it was a great experience!
First off, the environment was really good. Both the sleeping areas and the bathrooms/toilets were very clean, with no grime or unpleasant odors. You do need to bring your own toothbrush cup, toothbrush, and a bag for your clothes. Checking in and storing your belongings is done with a card, which is very convenient and secure, so you don't have to worry about your roommates. Everyone was quiet, mostly keeping to themselves without much interaction.
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and the price was excellent too."

GGuest User- The most surprising thing about this trip was staying in this youth hostel! The location is great, close to various attractions, and it is very convenient to travel. As soon as you enter the door, the clean and tidy environment makes you feel twice as good, the beds are comfortable, and the public areas are warm. The boss is warm and hospitable. Not only did he help plan the route, but he also met many like-minded friends. Here, not only did I have a comfortable place to stay, but I also gained a super unforgettable travel memory. I will stay here again next time I come here!

GGuest UserI booked the Single room because I wanted to have a calm night but I also wanted to socialise that’s why I booked a hostel. First of all the receptionist was the cutest! She helped me with everything and was so kind. My room was big and the view from the balcony was spectacular. BUT the bed was really really really hard. You could feel the metal feather coming through. The receptionist gave me a few blankets to make the bed softer which helped. But if you are a sensitive sleeper I can’t recommend. In the end I slept better than expected. But keep in mind, it’s still a hostel. So, you will hear doors being shut regularly. If you are sensitive this will wake you up. The hostel itself is really cute and nice! The views are amazing. If you want to meet locals this is the perfect place. I didn’t meet any other foreign travelers here though. You can also wash and cook here. So all in all it’s a good and cheap hostel IF you are not a sensitive sleeper.

KKa-LaLaLaIt is our own fault but we did not realise that this was so far out of the city and at the entrance gate of a cultural Stockade. The host was helpful but there was a bit of an odour from the bathroom.  if your purpose to stay here is to see the cultural stock then this would be a good location but there are no restaurants nearby.  There was a nice view from our window of the lake and some beautiful traditional architecture to walk around and see in the area.

GGuest UserThis hostel is really great and the boss is good. I highly recommend everyone especially foreigners to make contact with the boss prior to arriving so you don’t get lost like me🤣🤣. I called the boss via trip.com app, and he replied to me straight away. He is very good at responding and quickly helped me. The hostel is thoroughly cleaned and has a kitchen. The location is great. The boss also recommended me some places I can visit in Kunming.

MMingyuA hotel with a very folk-style environment, it is relatively clean in a village, and behind it is the folk customs. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the village to Dianchi Lake. The whole feeling is surrounded by strong ethnic culture. It is a good travel experience. It is also close to eating, and there are more famous ethnic restaurants nearby.

GGuest UserThe staff here is quite nice, they give you a disposable towel (a nightmare for the environment but it's a kind gesture, though), there is free drinking water at the reception and there was a washing machine that was free to use. The building is super interesting and has a very cool cylinder-shaped courtyard where people love taking photos. The building is full of artsy places and cafés. The reception is on another floor and quite far away from the dorm, though. That also means that most people will stay in the dorm, eating, being on phones etc. The problem here is that the hostel failed to put up signs that food isn't allowed in the rooms so you can't point those guests towards it. What is normal in almost every other country isn't normal in this one. Whenever I have a roommate who feels like he needs to burp every 30 seconds, fart and clear his throat at the same time, I want to book a ticket out of this country immediately. At this hostel I was also unlucky in that regard. I'm mentioning this because certain types of hostels attract certain types of people. These Chinese-style squat toilets they have here mean that you will stand in someone else's piss every time you enter the bathroom. And that toilet is right underneath you when you take a shower.

GGuest UserThe owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. Even though the shuttle wasn't on time, the owner personally drove to the airport to pick us up. The cleanliness was excellent. When it was raining heavily, the owner even cooked noodles for the guests. A truly kind and thoughtful owner, highly recommended!

TToulaishHad a wonderful stay here. I felt at home in this place. The owner and daughter are very friendly and helpful. The lower bunks are actually bigger than usual bed bunks. The location is excellent! It is right in the heart of the city center. There are many affordable restaurants in the area. Kunming city center is charming 😍. Overall, I had a good and positive experience staying in this hostel.

PPuteri KhalidaIf you just waiting for train or would like to stay for a short period of time and didnt care about the toilet, you can stay here. The toilet is outside, for us its creepy to go to toilet at night due to dim light and we had to go all of us. Overall since we waiting for our train early in the morning, it really helps us in short of time since we can just walked.
