An Evening with Ben Aaronovitch - Nottingham | Waterstones

Jul 10, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Nottingham
Cultural Experiences
Join us as we welcome Ben Aaronovitch to Waterstones Nottingham to celebrate the release of his new book, Stone and Sky , the latest instalment in the beloved Rivers of London series. 'This isn’t London. The rules are different up here.' Detective Sergeant Peter Grant takes a much-needed holiday up in Scotland. And he'll need one when this is over. If more's the merrier, then it's ecstatic as his partner Beverley, their young twins, his mum, dad, his dad's band and their dodgy manager all tag along. Even his boss, DCI Thomas Nightingale, takes in the coastal airs as he trains Peter's cousin Abigail in the arcane arts. And they'll need them too, because Scotland's Granite City has more than its fair share of history and mystery, myth ... and murder. When a body is found in a bus stop, fresh from the sea, the case smells fishy from the off. Something may be stirring beyond the bay - but there's something far stranger in the sky. Ben will discuss his new book before an audience Q&A and book signing. Before becoming a bestselling author, Ben Aaronovitch was a screenwriter for Doctor Who and a bookseller at Waterstones. He now writes full time, and every book in his Rivers of London series has been a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller. He is published in 14 languages and has sold more than 2 million copies around the world. Aaronovitch is also a trustee on the board of Cityread London and is a long-time supporter of Nigeria's premiere arts and cultural festival, The Aké Festival. ZZ TOPPD formed in 2020 and have firmly established themselves as the no.1 ZZ TOP tribute band in the UK. In 2023, the band embarked on their hugely successful 30 date ’Eliminatour’, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the bands biggest selling album ‘Eliminator’. They performed the album in it’s entirety along with all the biggest hits to packed venues up and down the country. They went ‘Mad And Nationwide’ in 2024, with 40 shows all over the UK, including 5 consecutive nights in Scotland. Now, in 2025, the band are heading out again on the UK wide ‘AfTourBurner’. With a two hour show featuring a setlist spanning ZZ TOP’s 53 year career, multiple costume changes and the iconic furry, spinning guitars, this is the closest thing you’ll get to the original Texas power trio.
