Comedy in the Caves – Bobby Davro Attention all comedy lovers and cave enthusiasts! Get ready for an unforgettable experience as Ian Whitcombe Comedy brings you “Comedy in the Caves” with the legendary Bobby Davro! You won’t want to miss out on seeing Bobby performing live in an actual cave. The caves are located beneath the beautiful Whistle & Flute pub on Derby Road, Nottingham, and offer the perfect blend of laughter and adventure in a truly unique environment. Join us for a one-of-a-kind comedy show that you won’t find anywhere else! Bobby Davro (Headliner) Bobby Davro is a renowned impressionist comedian with over 100 television and acting credits, stretching out over a remarkable 300 appearances. He was a fixture of television entertainment in the 80s and has continued to maintain and grow his stardom over the three decades since his rise began. He made his television debut in 1981, but it wasn’t until 1983 that he made his television breakthrough at Live From Her Majesty’s followed by appearances on the television show, Who Do You Do? As his popularity soared Bobby was given his own shows; Bobby Davro on the Box, Bobby Davro’s TV Annual and Bobby Davro’s TV Weekly. Over the years Bobby has transitioned into a television presenter and actor. He famously played Vinnie Monks in BBC soap EastEnders between 2007 and 2008, starring in an impressive 66 episodes. However Bobby is probably most well known as an impressionist, and in 2013 he demonstrated the longevity of his talents by appearing in Your Face Sounds Familiar, where prominent impressionists compete and mimic famous singers. He was applauded for his portrayal of Sir Tom Jones, Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney. Nowadays he continues to perform and has been given a host of stage roles, in popular pantos and shows. He has performed in Aladdin, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Robin Hood and the Wizard of Oz over the past decade, proving extremely popular at a range of venues including the Derngate Theatre, Northampton, the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Dorking Halls and the Southend Cliffs Pavilion. He has also made a series of appearances on popular reality game shows and celebrity talent shows. He has been a special guest judge on Five’s All Star Talent Show, on Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me, The Word and Dancing On Ice. Bobby’s distinctive comedic personality, excellent character impressions, acting skills and entertaining stories about his career and the media industry make him an excellent choice for an after-dinner speaker. He has received plaudits for his brand of corporate entertainment, comedy cabaret and event hosting. His long-standing position in the industry makes him a fantastic headliner for Comedy in the Caves. Jon Hipkiss (Opener) Bobby’s opening act will be the brilliant Jon Hipkissm who is a two-time Leicester Comedy Festival Award Nominee. His act is about everything, nothing and something. Last year Jon completed a whopping 90 shows at the Edinburgh Festival with many sell-out nights for his solo show. He tells jokes and stories about his drinking, rehab stay, old people, death, why you shouldn’t watch the news, German comedy groups, shark attacks and Buzz Lightyear. He has previously been tour support for Jack Whitehall. “Laugh out loud funny,” Jon Richardson. Ian Whitcombe (MC) Ian will be making a rare appearance at the Caves as MC for the evening. His usual role as backstage promotor, light and sound engineer and tea boy will be swept aside as he takes to the stage to keep the show on the straight and narrow. Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Taskmaster and Britain’s Got Talent are just a few of the programmes Ian has never appeared on. The list is literally endless! His MC work tends to be friendly and inclusive, so you don’t have to be worried about being picked on (too much…) Please be advised that our comedy line-ups are subject to change. Our talented comedians are in high demand and, on occasion, may need to cancel at short notice for television or radio recordings, among other reasons. Rest assured, we will always provide a replacement act of similar quality to ensure that our guests receive a great overall show experience. While most of our guests come for the entire show, we understand that some may be travelling to see a particular comedian. If that’s the case, we recommend checking our website on the day of the show or joining our mailing list to receive the latest updates on any changes to the line-up. We’re committed to providing our guests with the best possible experience, and we thank you for your understanding. Please note that the show starts at 8pm, so please ensure you leave plenty of time to get to your seat before the first act. This event is an 18+ event and may contain strong language. She’s particularly passionate about seasonal, sustainable British blooms. You might think that the family floristry business sparked an early interest in all things floral. But it wasn’t until running a training centre in the 1990s, where Jo set up City & Guilds horticultural qualifications (as she has also recently done at STAA, too) that her spark for growing ignited. From growing up without a garden to growing on 1.75 acres, Jo’s love of all things floral really bloomed with the emergence of garden style floral arrangements. Nothing beats gorgeous, highly scented cut flowers fresh from farm to gate. Jo’s style shows that flowers don’t need to be flown across the world or sprayed with chemicals and wrapped in plastic to be show-stoppers. About the Community Orchard This workshop will be run from the Strawbale Building on the Community Orchard. This unique building is hand-built from bales of straw and weatherproofed with clay sourced on site. It’s also off-grid, being naturally insulated by a living roof, with solar panels and a log-burner. St Ann’s Allotments are Grade II* Listed by Historic England, and designated an Area of Importance for Nature Conservation. This event will take place across two sessions at Nottingham Central Library: Friday 9 May, 6pm – 9pm (Meeting Room 4) Saturday 10 May, 10am – 6pm (Meeting Room 6) About the Three Circle Method The programme offers a unique journey for artists to delve into the core of their passions, transforming them into compelling and multidimensional concepts for future plays or shows. Participants will embark on a journey to identify ideas that resonate with them on a personal, social, and political level.  Through the innovative three-circle method (developed by Pepa), artists will not only discover the essence of their ideas but also unravel the complexity that makes them powerful and relevant to an audience. This process will encourage participants to create a solid and captivating foundation for a future production focusing on the show’s themes rather than the final form.  Harnessing the power of improvisation skills and various devising exercises, participants will learn to propose bold and imaginative ideas while fostering a collaborative environment. The program emphasizes active listening, drawing inspiration from others, and integrating playful and truthful approaches to theatre making. This unique program seamlessly combines training with the art of making theatre, offering participants an opportunity to discover a fresh perspective on their craft. Aspiring theatre makers will find a safe and inspiring space to transform their long-held ideas into the building blocks of a future play or show. This programme is directed to artists of all backgrounds and experience with a particular interest in theatre making.
