About Alice Hewkin
I have an allotment at St Ann's Allotments, where I grow a variety of fruit, from which I make a wide range of jams, jellies, and chutneys. I reduce the amount of sugar in my jam, to optimise the flavour of the fruit and like to experiment with complementary, seasonal additions, in order to create unique flavour combinations.
All my fruit is produced without the use of pesticides/herbicides, hand picked from plot to pot within a few hours. I love knowing that, for each jar of jam I produce, I can point out exactly where the fruit comes from and what goes into it. As all the fruit is grown on my allotment, there is a limit to the number of preserves I can produce in one season, so you might have to wait a year for the next batch to become available. I also make a range of seasonal cordials.
About the Community Orchard
This workshop will be run from the Community Orchard's beautiful outdoor kitchen. The Community Orchard is a garden maintained by STAA for educational purposes. It features a mix of mature fruit trees and fruit bushes, many of them heritage varieties, and includes a pond and a stream.
St Ann’s Allotments are Grade 2* Listed by Historic England and designated an Area of Importance for Nature Conservation. It is the oldest and largest area of Victorian detached town gardens in the UK, with over 700 years of history, 500 gardens, and 32 miles of hedgerow.

UKATA Asbestos Conference 2025 | Delta Hotels Nottingham Belfry
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Nottingham
The UKATA Asbestos Conference 2025 is set to be our biggest and most impactful event yet, bringing together industry professionals, clients, and key stakeholders from across the asbestos and occupational health sectors. This year, we are expanding our audience to include not only UKATA members and industry professionals but also the client-side—ensuring a broader, more comprehensive discussion on asbestos management, training, and the latest developments in health and safety.
The conference will feature an outstanding lineup of speakers, headlined by Sam Lord, HM Principal Specialist Inspector at the HSE. Attendees will also hear from leading industry experts, medical professionals, legal specialists, software providers, and contractors, offering diverse insights into the current challenges and advancements within the sector.
A key highlight of the event will be the presence of the first Director of Health, providing an exclusive perspective on the regulatory landscape, health risks, and the future of asbestos-related policies.
In addition to an engaging conference programme, there will be stand spaces from a wide range of organisations, offering delegates the opportunity to network, explore innovative solutions, and connect with suppliers, service providers, and industry leaders.
Join us for an informal drinks reception and dinner the night before the conference on 25 June. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow delegates in a relaxed setting ahead of the main event.
Simply select this option when completing your booking.
Whether you’re a health and safety professional, legal expert, client representative, contractor, or asbestos industry specialist, the UKATA Asbestos Conference 2025 is the must-attend event for gaining essential knowledge, engaging in high-level discussions, and shaping the future of asbestos management.
