Speed-Tarot | 7933 104 St NW

May 9, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Edmonton
Cultural Experiences
You've got the decks. You've taken the classes. You've read the books, the blogs, the articles. You understand the structure of the deck. You can shuffle the cards. You've read for yourself so many times that you can predict what cards will show up in the spread. But you want to practice reading for other people. Maybe the people around you aren't interested in getting readings, or you've read for them already, too, or maybe you just can't seem to get your schedules to match up. Or maybe you want to practice reading for people you don't know at all. So you need to find new practice partners...but where? Where Faeries Live has the event for you: SPEED-TAROT! This is not a class. There won't be a teacher with a lesson plan and handouts. This is a chance for some practical experience. It's like speed-dating, but with Tarot readings. You'll move around the room, giving and recieving quick, 1-3 card readings. Each round will have a different topic, announced by the facilitator at the beginning of the round. If you still need to reference your deck's guidebook, that's fine. If you're getting to know a new deck, that's fine. If you know your deck so well you could recite the guidebook in your sleep, that's fine. This is for all you beginner-to-intermediate Tarot enthusiasts. (So not you folks who find reading for strangers as easy as breathing, sorry.) This event will not only get you reading for new people, but it will also force you to look at your cards in a variety of contexts. You must bring your own Tarot deck. If you have a small crystal or other totemic item that assists you while you read, you are welcome to bring it along, too. But be aware that you will not be sitting at the same spot through the whole event. Anything you bring must be small enough to move easily along with you. So come join us for an evening of Tarot fun and practice! HOUSEKEEPING Where Faeries Live has moved! Our new address is 7933-104 Street. We’ve had issues with map/direction apps taking people to the old location, even if the address is listed correctly. The good news is: we aren’t far away! If you find yourself at the old store, we are about half a block east and half a block north, next to Crave Cupcakes. Tickets to this event are ONLY available through EventBrite. Anyone offering tickets via any other medium is trying to scam you. Tickets are available on EventBrite through 11:59pm MST on April 10thth, 2025. Refunds are available through EventBrite up to seven days before the event. EventBrite fees are non-refundable. Information Source: Where Faeries Live | eventbrite

Theater
Celebrate the launch of Edmonton Repertory Theatre with a night of musical discovery featuring homegrown theatrical talent. We invite you to join us in the newly renovated Biederman Theatre for performances by local favourites Chris Bullough, Giselle Parker, and Edmonton’s own “bright light of the Great West”, Dana Wylie. This event is in support of Chris Bullough's new play, Undiscovered Country, with proceeds supporting artist fees for the show’s upcoming production, ensuring this ground-breaking solo work reaches its full potential. Based on Bullough's 2023 song cycle of the same name, Undiscovered Country - the strange and fantastical story of the rise and fall of fictional country music entertainer, Tyler Wainwright Jr. - will make its debut at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, August 14-24, 2025, Live at the Roxy Theatre! “Undiscovered Country is Chris Bullough’s fascinating and highly original set of songs, characters and fantastic stories running at the Edmonton Fringe. Chris’s delivery is precisely timed, intensely committed and wild. Catch it and be astounded.” - Gerry Potter, Founder and past Artistic Director of Workshop West Playwright’s Theatre “(A) fantastical vision and an ecstatic connection with its own dark comedy about it. There’s more of Sam Shepard than Ian Tyson in Undiscovered Country … (This) is what happens when you let an actor/playwright/ songwriter — an artist with a sense of outrage and a sense of humour — loose…” – Liz Nicholls, 12th Night.ca Edmonton Repertory Theatre is committed to creating and supporting bold, dynamic, and locally-rooted productions. As we prepare for our inaugural season, we invite you to be a part of our story from the very beginning. Your support will directly fund artists, productions, and community programs. Primarily this class aims to create a lead and follow base so that you can improvise on the fly and your partner will follow. Great for couples and singles! Single? We recommend earlier registration so that we can find you a partner for the class. Makeups? if prior to the start of your class, we may be able to provide a makeup but no guarantees. If a complete transfer needs to be made, there is a $20/person fee for transferring to a future date. Drop-In? We allow a drop-in trial class for only the first class of a beginner Level 1 series. Its $52.50 incl. tax/couple for 90 min. Only if there is enough room will there be 1 class drop-ins. Couple that sign up for full 4 week series will take priority. Shoes? Ideally dance shoes for both, latin heel for her and jazz sneakers or jazz slippers (but no outdoor shoes, stilletos, or marking soles allowed). A low heel or flats for her and dress shoe or wornout running shoes for him will suffice to start with. Allowance for the foot to pivot is key. Attire and masks? No preference to clothing as long as your legs are not too restricted. Office business casual attire is usually the norm. Masks are optional only if provincial or municpal bylaws allow. Updates will be made with each class. Duration: Check your dates and times above 4 weeks (75 min /class) SINGLES: $85+tax COUPLES: $170+tax $10 late fee for late registration at the door. (contact 780-906-7939 if last minute to ensure the class is confirmed). May 12, 2025 - Jun 2, 2025 Alex ROJAS Mon7:15pm - 8:30pm MDT Information Source: ETOWN SALSA DANCE COMPANY | eventbrite
