Take a trip around Edmonton visiting a diverse selection of Garden Suites. On this YEGarden Suite Tour you will be able to visit 6 different Garden Suites on a self-guided tour. At each suite, you can have discussions with Garden Suite owners or builders, to learn from their experience building a suite in Edmonton. It can be hard to imagine what the inside of a Garden Suite can look like. Get a feel for different designs, layouts, and floor plans first hand. This is a fun-filled event to show Edmontonians what is possible, and a great opportunity to get inspired about what you could build in your own backyard. Trinket Dish and Trinket Sculpting Pottery Workshop Students will make their own trinket dish and trinkets/sculptures to go with it while learning introductory handbuilding pottery techniques. No experience necessary, this ceramic pottery class is fun for all levels! Let your creativity flow as you design your own dish + mini figures that are unique to you. What to Expect Handbuilding Techniques: Learn the basic techinques of rolling out clay and creating form. You will be guided through each step so no prior experience is needed for this workshop. You will be provided with tips and tricks to create a functional dish that is unique to you. Materials: You will be supplied with everything that you need including clay, tools, and clay slip to add color and designs. For the final touch, your creations will be fired and glazed. Clothing : Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Clay does not stain clothing but it can get messy! What to Bring : We encourage you to bring sketches or photos of your inspo and ideas! May Day Fayre at the Patch Join us for a Beltane celebration at Redlynch Community patch where we plan to eat, drink and make merry! Traditionally Beltane is the Gaelic May Day celebration marking the height of spring and the transition into summer. We'll be holding seasonal workshops to tickle your curiosity hosting local food producers and drinks purveyors for your olfactory pleasure, and dancing to folk tunes while circus performers wow us with spinning fire. Local artisans will hold stalls for all your gifting needs, and a plethora of traditional fete activities like welly wanging for your entertainment. So come, break bread with us and leap the Beltane flames to ring in the summer and prepare for the coming season's bounty! Tickets Entry tickets are priced at a sliding scale to enable more people to come. The price of the ticket goes towards paying for set-up equipment, plus a little donation to keep the Community Patch going. Workshops are priced individually and must be booked separately. These will be listed in the coming weeks, so make sure to keep checking this page and book on as soon as you can - first come, first served. Accessibility The fayre will be held on our site, a three-acre field just outside of Bruton. It being a field, the ground is uneven and sometimes soft (depending on weather), so bring appropriate shoes. The site is also a working market garden, and while the plants we grow are pretty hardy, they can't withstand the force of boots so please stick to the public areas (unless on a tour). Parking is very limited, we will have a hardstanding at the bottom of the field but it will only be able to fit about 10 cars. Depending on weather there may be space to park on the grass but this will be at your own risk. Please try and share lifts where possible, or walk from Bruton (just a 20 minute walk across the lovely fields). Please also try to avoid parking on the street as large agricultural vehicles often need access. Surrounding area Our patch is in the middle of a small and quiet village. Our neighbours have been hugely supportive of all the work we've done to keep our patch going, so we ask that you please respect them when coming to and leaving the site - it is for this reason that we also have a strict curfew of 10pm.
