Culinary Chemistry: Out of the Lab and into the Tent An evening of science, storytelling and spectacular bakes in support of STEM outreach Join us for this special fundraiser event with Dr Josh Smalley — chemist, science communicator and 2023 finalist on The Great British Bake Off — for a talk and Q&A at Science Creates. From the lab bench to the Bake Off tent, Josh will share his journey as a scientist and baker, how he blends his passions for chemistry and food through science communication, and what it was really like to be a GBBO contestant. There’ll also be a live demo and dedicated Q&A, so come curious and ready to ask your burning questions — whether chemistry or cake related. Plus, enjoy a complimentary spread of sweet and savoury treats, generously provided by local legends, Cakesmiths. Drinks will be available to purchase from the venue bar ahead of the talk. All profits from this event and any additional donations will support Science Creates Outreach — a Bristol-based STEM charity immersing young people in hands-on science experiences with the mission to inspire, empower and diversify the next generation of scientists and innovators. Bristol Parent Carer Forum hosts coffee mornings from schools for parent carers of children and young adults that have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). There is no need to book but if you can, that is helpful. Please come along for a chat with our volunteers and other families who “get it”. We are happy to talk through any problems or issues you are facing over a nice cup of tea (or coffee!) and you can find out more information on what support is available locally for your child or a child you care for. If you need additional support to access this coffee morning such as support with English or other adjustments, please let us know. An important role of the Parent Carer Forum is to hear about the experiences of parent carers in Bristol. We would like to hear from you about your experiences with SEND services so that we can be sure that your voice is heard and that we can shape the future of SEND services together. We start the class seated to mobilise all muscles and joints. Then we practice sit to stand to strengthen the leg muscles. I like do a little bit of lateral movement and balance work before we add hand held and leg weights for an all over workout. I use great music that you can sing along to if you wish and its suitable for chaps as well as ladies. There is an option to stay after for a cuppa tea for 50p.
