Kate Reid Live at The Attic Bar & Stage | 1413 9 Ave SE
Apr 11, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Calgary
Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, Kate Reid's love for country music began at an early age. Inspired by legends like Terri Clark, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Sara Evans, and Reba McEntire, Kate would often serenade her neighbors from her backyard swing set with her renditions of their favorite songs.
Now a country singer/songwriter based in Calgary, Alberta, Kate's powerful voice and relatable songwriting have set her apart in the Canadian country music scene. With a career that continues to grow, she has headlined iconic stages, including Ranchman’s, and earned accolades such as the Best Original Song award at Ranchman’s Rising Star Competition. Her single "Bang" hit the Top 10 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, and she has performed at numerous festivals and venues throughout Alberta.
Kate has had the privilege of working with renowned industry professionals, including Stephen Shiveley, Charlotte Avenue Entertainment, Jordan Craig, and Grant Howarth. In 2021, she released her debut single "Numb," followed by her first music video and her debut EP
I Do
in November 2022. Nominated for three YYC Music Awards, Kate’s music continues to captivate audiences, and 2024 promises new original songs and dynamic live shows.
Kate signed with Blue Willow in 2024 and is working on a new project at BWE Studios. We are anxiously anticipating the release of two new singles including, “Girl” coming out on February 28th. In Kate’s words “Girl” stands out compared to other heartbreak songs because it isn’t for the person who did the wrong and it isn’t a letter of anger or pain or revenge, it’s for anyone who’s ever been in a similar situation and is thinking it’s their fault or there’s something they could have done differently.
Kate has booked a single release party at The Attic, right in the heart of The Music Mile, on April 11th and is eager to share her new music with the masses. Watch for her performing all over Alberta this summer.

Minimal Abstract Art with Lynette Melnyk | Kensington Art Supply & Instruction
Apr 13, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Calgary
What if you could create art that is just for you—no pressure, no judgment, just pure creative fun? In this 3-hour class, Lynette Melnyk will show you how to do exactly that. Whether you are new to painting or already experienced, this workshop is about letting go of perfection and discovering the joy of creating minimal abstract art. Lynette will walk you through simple, effective exercises to make abstract art—focusing on using basic shapes, lines, and harmony. You will learn some easy principles to guide your process, and Lynette will also encourage you to trust your intuition and experiment freely. We will embrace the idea that sometimes less really is more, and that working with limitations can open so many creative possibilities without being overwhelmed. By the end of the class, you will have at least one (or a few!) abstract paintings to take home—pieces that you can be proud of because they come from you, and a great reminder for the future to let go and have fun. Most importantly, you will leave feeling more confident in your creativity and excited to keep painting. REFUND POLICY: Kensington Art Supply can issue full refunds for cancellations 7 days before the event. Late cancellations and absences will not result in a full refund.
