Talk and Book Signing with Bestselling Author Amy Daws | Half Price Books
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-5)
Dallas
Meet bestselling author Amy Daws at your Dallas Flagship HPB on Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. Amy will join us to discuss and sign her latest book,
Seven Year Itch
, a hilarious enemies-to-lovers where life just has a wicked sense of humor. Ticket includes copy of book.
About Seven Year Itch
Two enemies who despise each other find that life has a wicked sense of humor after a chance encounter in a sex club and a one-bed mistake on a group vacation reveal that sometimes, haters make the best lovers, in the hotly anticipated second book of #1 Amazon bestselling author Amy Daw's popular Mountain Man Matchmaker series.
Alone and Looking to Bone! Loudmouthed Mountain Man Seeks Fiery Woman to Grow Old With.
I might look like a tall, tattooed, bearded neanderthal...but like an onion, I have layers. Swipe right if you like a proud cat daddy who catches feelings after direct eye contact.
All I wanted was a casual plus-one to my brother's destination wedding, but those idiots on my family tree hacked my dating profile and sabotaged my quest for the perfect weekend fling. Now I'm stuck on a tropical vacation with only my hand to keep me company.
Until I’m forced to share a room with the bane of my existence:
my sister-in-law’s best friend.
Dakota has hated me for the past seven years. I wasn’t losing much sleep over her screaming rants because she was some other guy’s problem.
Or she was, until she got divorced.
Being stuck in paradise with a woman who loathes your very existence doesn't sound hot, but after an unexpected moment in our shared palapa, she starts screaming at me in a different way.
What happens in paradise stays in paradise. That is, until Dakota shows up on my mountain with a proposition: be her wingman to help her regain her pre-divorce confidence.
Suddenly, Dakota’s not just person I love to fight with.
She’s the woman I want everything with.
About Amy Daws
National bestselling author Amy Daws writes spicy love stories that take place in America, as well as across the pond. When Amy is not writing, she’s likely making charcuterie boards from her home in South Dakota, where she lives with her daughter and husband.

Farm Tour & Potluck at Thank You Farm (Langley, BC) | 21231 36 Ave
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-7)
Langley
You’re invited to a Farm Tour and Potluck at Thank You Farm in Langley, BC! If you’re curious what
land matching
is all about – or just want to check out what your local farmers are up to – join us for the event. Come out to connect with other farmers and food lovers, share a delicious potluck meal and learn about free-range egg production.
We'll enjoy a farm tour with leasing farmer Chungyun Kim, who is the owner and operator of Thank You Farm. Prior to farming full-time, Chungyun was a small business owner. He studied forestry in South Korea and after moving to Canada, kept chickens, ducks and goats as a hobby. In 2024, he decided to turn his interest in agriculture into a full-time career and reached out to the
B.C. Land Matching Program
(BCLMP). Chungyun was matched to 3.5 acres of land through the BCLMP, where he now runs Thank You Farm, producing free-range eggs for his local community.
During the farm tour, we will hear from Chungyun about his first year operating the farm and his plans for the future. In addition to his livestock (which include goats and 200 chickens), he is currently collaborating with the landholder to add vegetables to his operation. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about land sharing, livestock farming and farm startup. The tour will wrap up with a potluck meal, with plenty of time to socialize.
Ve-Jane, the Metro Vancouver-Fraser Valley Land Matcher, will also be there to discuss how she can help you find a farmer for your land or farmland where you can build your dream farm business. Both farmers seeking land and farmland holders are encouraged to attend – as well as anyone who loves food, farming and getting out onto the land.
We can't wait to see you there!

Living in the Biotech Century: The First 25 Years | Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-5)
Bannockburn
We are 25 years into the Biotech Century. Have the predictions, opportunities, and threats that many in the late 1990s wrote about come to pass? From eliminating disease to the development of new technologies and moving toward the Singularity, how have the predictions made in the 1990s fared?
Which opportunities and threats have been realized? What unforeseen issues have arisen? How does the knowledge we have now inform how we view the predictions that were made then? And, perhaps most importantly, how can human beings flourish over the rest of the Biotech Century?
The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity invites you to join us for our 32nd annual conference,
Living in the Biotech Century: The First 25 Years
, on the campus of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Bannockburn, Illinois.
We will assess the fruits of the Biotech Century and delve into the pressing issues before us from a Judeo-Christian, Hippocratic point of view.
Confirmed Speakers Include:
Nigel M. de S. Cameron, President Emeritus, Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies
Paul Dassow, President, American College of Family Medicine
Ewan Goligher, Assistant Professor, University of Toronto
Brent Waters, Emeritus Jerre and Mary Joy Professor of Christian Social Ethics, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary
The conference will host plenary sessions addressing:
Virtue Ethics
Predictions vs. Reality Regarding the Biotech Century
The Growth of Assisted Suicide and the Continuing Push toward Euthanasia
An Update on Christian Bioethics in Chinese-Speaking Areas of the World
Coming Soon in Biotech
And More
In addition, workshops and paper sessions will explore a wide spectrum of issues from traditional and emerging bioethical topics.
The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity’s annual conference is the leading forum for engaging in Christian bioethics, providing opportunities for equipping and educating students, professionals, clergy, and lay people, as well as professional development credit, academic engagement, and networking for academic researchers, policymakers, educators, clinicians, thought leaders, and students across a variety of disciplines and professional contexts.

Havelock Sportsmen's Club Project Mapleseed June 28th 2025 | Havelock Sportsmen's Club
Jun 28, 2025 (UTC-3)
Havelock
A Project Mapleseed event is designed to provide structured and safe rifle fundamentals to hunters and shooters of all ages. It provides a solid framework of basic rifleman skills that benefits new and experienced shooters alike. For the new shooter we can teach you to use your rifle safely and also be able to hit your target. For the seasoned shooter we can teach you to shoot more accurately - even out to 500 yards.
The emphasis on teaching traditional rifle marksmanship within Project Mapleseed centers around traditional rifle marksmanship techniques using a rifle sling coupled with a concept termed "natural point of aim" (NPOA). Project Mapleseed uses reduced size scaled silhouette targets that enable a shooter to assess their effective range with their rifle using a reduced length shooting range only 25 meters (82 feet) long, while simulating firing at full size targets at ranges up to 400 yards.
The ultimate goal of a "Mapleseed" is to teach students to maintain 4 minutes of angle (MOA) precision and accuracy, This translates into being able to put all shots into a 20 inch at 500 yards. Qualification targets are shot to evaluate progress and for score. The goal is to score 210 points or better on a 40-shot course that has 250 possible points. This earns the coveted Rifleman’s Patch and is equivalent to scoring Expert on an Army qualification course.

FAQs
What rifle and sights can I use?
Mapleseed participants are free to use whatever rifle they have or can borrow. The most common rifle is a magazine-fed, semi-automatic .22 rimfire with a scope. This provides new shooters with a low-cost, low-recoil training platform that allows them focus on fundamentals. Magazine-fed rifles are usually recommended as there are mandatory mag changes during the qualification course of fire and is less complicated for new shooters. The action is typically less important than the magazine type and capacity.
Which sighting mechanism are also up to the shooter. You are free to use whatever you prefer. We will cover sight alignment using all of the typical types.
Bottom line? Bring the rifle you have, the shooting fundamentals taught focus on the shooter not the rifle. The goal is to learn and have fun.
Note:
Some events may be held on private land and as such will be limited to non-restricted rifles. Events with such limitations will be clearly identified.
Refund Policy
Project Mapleseed will refund registration / range fees in the event that an event is cancelled. Individual refunds will not be provided. Please ensure your availability prior to booking. Individuals who cannot make the event may transfer their registration to another individual.
If you are unable to attend an event due to COVID restrictions, please contact us.

Dallas Farmers Market
Nestled among the skyscrapers and the hustle of the city is a place where farmers become friends. In the middle of everything but away from it all, since 1941, the Dallas Farmers Market has been filled with wholesome produce and the collective fruits of our labor. Once a humble horse-and-wagon wholesale business, the market has grown with the city and turned into a hub for farm-fresh vegetables, dairy and more.
Today, in the heart of downtown, the Dallas Farmers Market exists to cultivate a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle for all of North Texas. Seasonal produce, free-range meats, fresh eggs, artisan pantry staples, and handmade arts + crafts can be found in The Shed every weekend year round. All products are grown and raised within Texas or 400 miles of Dallas, ensuring that the selection is always fresh, seasonal, and supports local agriculture. The Market + The Shops at Harvest and Taylor Lofts are home to locally-owned small businesses with shopping and eats throughout.

Safety Information
To attend our walks you need to be reasonably fit, prepared to be responsible for your own safety, and to supervise any children in your care. Appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended. A bottle of water, an umbrella and an extra layer wouldn't go amiss. The British weather is notoriously changeable! Newcastle is an historic city with uneven pavements and narrow passages add to its unique character. There are also often steps to navigate. Our walks take approximately 90 minutes, are you comfortable walking and standing for that length of time? If there’s any activity you are unable to do or if you have a concern, please contact us at newcastlecityg@gmail.com before booking. We try to stick to footpaths and use pedestrian crossings where available. If you have any pre-medical conditions or injuries that may affect you walking or feel unwell during a walk, please let your Guide know.
Standard Disclaimer
Your participation in the guided walk is at your own risk and we shall not be held liable under any circumstances for any matter arising out of your participation. We accept no responsibility or liability for loss or injury (other than for matters for which we are not legally able to exclude or limit liability). We have public liability insurance.
