The mountain is a Buddha, and the Buddha is a mountain, the Leshan Giant Buddha
The ancient Leshan is located at the confluence of three rivers, where the Minjiang, Qingyi, and Dadu rivers converge at the foot of Lingyun Mountain. The confluence is turbulent, and every summer flood, the river hits the mountain wall, often causing shipwrecks and deaths.
Haitong Zen master who practiced in Lingyun Mountain, vowed to carve a giant Buddha, hoping to rely on the Dharma to reduce the water's momentum and calm the waves forever.
So he traveled all over the Yangtze River, the two lakes and the Huaihai Sea, raising manpower and financial resources, and began to carve the Buddha in 713 AD, and finally completed it in 803 AD (the 19th year of Tang Zhenyuan).
The Buddha took 90 years, three generations of builders, and four emperors.
It is the largest stone Buddha in the world and one of the masterpieces of ancient Chinese craftsmanship and carving art, reflecting the superb stone carving skills and artistic level of ancient China.
The "Leshan Giant Buddha" is the common name for this Buddha by later generations, but in fact, this Buddha had a formal and standard name at the beginning of its construction in the Tang Dynasty.
According to expert field investigations, the real name of this stone carving statue, commonly known as the "Leshan Giant Buddha" by later generations, is "Jiazhou Lingyun Temple Giant Maitreya Stone Statue".
The head of the Leshan Giant Buddha is as high as the mountain, with a height of 14.7 meters and a width of 10 meters, 1051 buns, and ears 7 meters long. It is carved into the mountain and sits on the river, with a solemn and majestic momentum.
On the cliffs along the river on both sides of the Buddha, there are two guardian king statues over 16 meters high.
On the right side of the Buddha, there is an ancient plank road with nine bends, which was left over from the construction and worship of the Buddha in the Tang Dynasty. It was carved along the cliff, with nine twists and turns, and it is extremely steep.
After the completion of the Buddha, a 7-story pavilion was built to cover it (there are also 9 or 13 stories), known as the "Big Buddha Pavilion" and "Big Image Pavilion". But the Buddha Pavilion was repeatedly built and destroyed.
The Leshan Giant Buddha is the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancient Chinese working people and a miracle in the history of world culture.

Amazing experience! I wanted to see the Giant Buddha from the river and from the top. So first I went straight to the Wulou temple river pierce. The view was outstanding! Then I went up to the temple itself, then walk to the South gate and entered the Giant Buddha scenic area. There were a few people as it was Sunday afternoon already. Enjoyed this trip a lot.

Not bad, a very famous tourist attraction, convenient by boat, no need to walk, you can stop the boat in front of the Big Buddha, that is, the time for the boat to stop is a bit short, if this can be extended according to the off-peak season, there are fewer people to extend the time of the boat, which is more humane.
After coming in, it gives people a very fresh feeling. It is really spectacular in the earth palace. The Buddha statue is lifelike. Every portrayal is really special. It is worth coming here. It will never disappoint.
I am honored to have the opportunity to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha in the off-season. Very shocking Giant Buddha. There is no queue, orderly visit, plenty of activity time, take pictures 📷 you can find your favorite location. Very worth punching in the places of interest. The unexpected harvest is that I also saw the cliff tomb. The scenery of the whole mountain is also very beautiful, a ticket 🎫 is actually visited three scenic spots. For tourists who like to understand Chinese history and culture and appreciate cultural relics, this route can be planned with the Samsungdui Museum and many museums in Chengdu.
Traveling with my family, so I didn't choose to climb the mountain, but chose to take a cruise. Tea, drinks, and snacks are all available on the boat. The viewing angle is also very good, and the time to take pictures and watch is given on the front. The river breeze is slowly, the weather is sunny, and the family sits around and enjoys tea. Very pleasant journey!
Nothing to do on weekends. I suddenly thought of Leshan Giant Buddha to play. (The following is the overall situation of the non-peak season on March 17) 1. Chengdu East, the high-speed rail takes an hour to Leshan Station. Taxi 24 yuan to the North Gate Visitor Center. North Gate (Lijiang No. 1 Bridge) is the most traditional route. Save the package at the North Gate Visitor Center, buy tickets 2. The North Gate Visitor Center to the North Gate of Leshan Giant Buddha, it takes 20-30 minutes to walk. It is recommended to take the scenic free transportation car and 5 minutes to the North Gate. (Transportation route: North Gate - Oriental Buddha Capital - South Gate) 3. Suggested route: North Gate into - Buddha Head area including Wuyou Temple, etc. - Buddha feet - Mahaoya Tomb - Wuyou Temple - South Gate out. 4. The south gate must not pay attention to the tricycle at the door, taxi. Go forward, go forward, walk to the road (5 minutes). Take the scenic spot free car, you can play the Oriental Buddha City along the way (artificial attractions, separate tickets are required)
Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area has to get up at 7:30 in the morning to enter the scenic area. Don't worry about visiting other places first, go to the plank road and cram the Buddha's feet, so that you can enjoy the feeling of not taking a photo. The weather is very comfortable and the drizzle is simmering. Then come up and enjoy it slowly, pay attention to safety first.
