You’ve got this wild combo of rugged cliffs, a rushing river, and delicate sakura trees doing their soft pink thing, total contrast, total vibe. The gorge itself is super photogenic, with bridges that give you those wow views from above. Spring brings a calm energy, with petals floating on the water and the trees dotting the cliffs like they’re showing off. It’s peaceful but not boring, ya know? Oh, and don’t miss the flying dango. Yes, flying. There’s this little tea shop across the gorge that zip your snack over in a basket on a pulley system. Blossoms, views, and airborne sweets? Come on. If you’re looking for cherry blossoms with a bit of edge literally, Gembikei Gorge is your springtime adventure spot.

#cherryblossom25 Kitakami Tenshochi Park is straight-up cherry blossom heaven. We’re talking over 10,000 trees lining the river like a never-ending pink tunnel, it’s absolutely unreal. Walk it, bike it, or hop on that cute little sightseeing train and just vibe through the sakura wonderland. The whole park has this cozy festival feel in spring. There are food stalls, boats on the river, and petals floating everywhere like you're in a soft-focus dream sequence. It’s big, but not overwhelming. Plenty of spots to chill under the trees with friends or just lie back and do absolutely nothing. If you hit it during peak bloom, it’s full-on magic. Even if you don’t, the mix of trees, river, and mountains in the background still gives big main character moment energy. This is one of those places where spring just hits different. 100% worth the trip.

Imagine a cherry tree growing out of a giant crack in a boulder, and not just surviving, but throwing out these soft pink blossoms like it's in a fairytale. It's over 400 years old, and somehow still doing its thing every spring. The vibe? Super peaceful. It’s in front of a courthouse, which sounds weirdly official, but the contrast kind of makes it cooler. You’re just standing there, looking at this stubborn, beautiful tree that literally split a rock to live. It’s like nature’s ultimate power move. Cherry blossoms here hit different, maybe it’s the backstory, maybe it’s the setting, but either way, it’s worth the trip. Don’t expect a massive park or festival feel, it’s more of a quiet awe situation. Still, 10/10 for uniqueness and bloom energy.

From Hakodate Station to Morioka Station, I took the Hayabusa from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station and arrived in a total of 2 hours and 27 minutes 🚅 ☆ Yakiniku Segawa I went to Yakiniku Segawa, which has been selected as one of the 100 best yakiniku restaurants. I ordered a medium-sized plate of salt-grilled meat, tempura meat, pickled vegetables, and beer. I especially like the liver. This time I visited alone, so that's all I ordered, but next time if I come with a group, I'd like to order steak. Many of the customers around me were ordering steak after all. ☆ Morioka Mikoda Morning Market It seems to open from 5:00, but I arrived around 5:40. ★ Kigu-no-bo First, I ordered the hittsumi I was looking for. There was a line. I found a space in the rest area and sat down. It was delicious. ★ Inoue Farm I ordered burdock soup ◎ I'd definitely like to order a set meal next time. ★ Direct sales store I bought some strawberries called Star Night. It was very sweet and delicious 🥺 The vegetables were all green and beautiful. ☆ Fukuda Pan Mitake Branch I arrived before opening time, but there was a line in no time! I ordered the limited-edition sarunashi jam. As expected, the bread was fluffy 🙆 Before coming to this store, I passed by "Fukuda Pan Nagatamachi Main Branch", and there was also a line.

Sakurayama Shrine is located in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. I think most people who are sightseeing around Morioka Station come here. It is much more compact than Morioka Hachiman Shrine. (It was more compact than I imagined.) The large Eboshi Rock is also famous. There is a parking lot, but it can only accommodate a few cars (there is a sign that says "Please refrain from entering unless you are a worshipper"), so be careful. It is next to Morioka Castle Ruins Park, so I recommend visiting both places. Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. I decided to go there on a whim after a local acquaintance recommended it. Apparently, you can enjoy the snow corridor only during this time of year. "Aspite" is the name of a volcano shaped like a shield, and it is a 27km long driveway that crosses Hachimantai, straddling both Iwate and Akita prefectures. The road is closed during the winter. It will be open from mid-April. The snow that has accumulated during the winter forms a wall several meters high, and you can enjoy a spectacular drive. (It will end once the snow melts, so it is only during this season✨mid-April to early May) ···I was looking forward to it, but the road was closed due to bad weather (snow)😭😭 I was shocked that something like that could happen... (It was certainly cold though...) Several groups of friends made a U-turn... It was also listed in the recommended drive guide of the station rental car. If only I could have checked the information beforehand...😢 (I had planned to go straight to Akita, but I was forced to change my route. This is the Yakehashiri Lava Flow Observatory, a tourist spot in Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. You can go here after walking the trail, or directly. It's quite small considering it's called an observation deck. When I visited, there were only 2-3 groups that got in. I recommend climbing up after a walk, since it's a great opportunity. The view is completely different. You can feel the mystery of nature. This is a single cherry tree at Koiwai Farm in Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. It's not in the garden, so you have to leave the garden and go by car. It takes about 5 minutes. There is a dedicated parking lot. It seems that the flowering was a little late this year, so I was able to see it🌸 It stands alone quite far away, so it might not bother you even if the leaves fall off?? You can check the garden and the flowering status of the single cherry tree on the website, so I recommend checking in advance. Koiwai Farm Makiba-en is located in Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Morioka Station. Since there weren’t many reviews available, I couldn’t do much research beforehand, but it was more crowded than I expected. However, the spacious grounds made it easy to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed. If you go with high expectations, you might feel a bit disappointed. There aren’t any standout attractions, and the areas where you can interact with or see animals are somewhat limited. It’s not a place where you can spend an entire day. I was lucky enough to catch the cherry blossoms just in time, and the weather was perfect for a leisurely stroll around the park. (I also got to see the sheep’s feeding time.) For lunch, I had pizza at the Koiwai Farm Kitchen. As expected, it was delicious. (You purchase tickets via a vending machine. Electronic payment methods were accepted, but PayPay was not.) I had planned to try the soft serve ice cream, but it was too cold, so I had to skip it. That’s my only regret... At the souvenir shop, I ended up buying more than I intended because they had exclusive sweets only available at the farm. In the evening, I revisited the farm for the nighttime illumination event. (You can re-enter by showing your ticket from earlier.) Most of the shops were closed, and it was quite cold, so I just took some photos and left. (It was beautiful, but honestly, my impression was "Hmm...". Since I was nearby, I revisited, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for it.) Still, I was satisfied with the delicious food and the chance to enjoy nature.
