Spain’s most stunning ski resort
Located in Vall d’Aran, a very unique valley in the northwest of Catalonia, caressing the border with France, Baqueira Beret is a perfect ski adventure.
The resort is the usual choice of famous Spanish celebrities, even the Royal family are seen skiing here.
It is not surprising, given the beautiful of the scenery, the long ski runs, the variety of difficulties in the tracks and the quality of the snow.
Hundreds of kilometers distributed in three areas: Bonaigua, Baqueira and Beret (from east to west). It is totally possible to spend one entire day skiing from one to the other, never repeating a run or a ski lift.
As for accommodations there are quite a few options in Baqueira town, however these are usually quite expensive during ski season. Just a few kilometers further, you could also choose to book a hotel in Vielha, the largest town in the area, with more affordable options.
Ski pass in Baqueira usually starts at about 50€ per person per day, allowing you for access to all the areas and ski lifts.

If you want to find the quiet land of the mind, be sure to mark this monastery next time you visit Lerida!
Spain's Pyrenees Distance - Lerida (Greater Region)
This time, head to the Nogra region of Lerida province, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and explore a medieval monastic church with a super ancient rhyme - the Colegiata de Sant Pere de Ponts⛪. Built in the 11th to 12th centuries, the church perfectly showcases the Lombardy Romanesque architectural style: there is a stately nave with a semi-cylindrical vault, and three octagonal super eye-catching domed transepts – one of which is a tall octagonal dome that becomes the most iconic part of the monastery!
Although the monastery was destroyed and burned in the Carlos War in the 19th century, what we see now is the carefully restored building✨. Surrounded by olive groves, the views are healing – a narrow path to get there, however seeing this view is definitely worth the price of admission.
Here, you can feel unprecedented tranquility, while it is recommended that you walk to the castle located on the top of the front, highly recommended 360 degree panoramic view, the view is really unbeatable 😲!

The current cathedral in Lleida is considered the earliest neoclassical building in Catalonia, retaining elements of late Baroque and French academic styles.
Spanish Pyrenees Distance - Lerida (Greater Region)
When you visit Lerida, Spain, you must check out the famous local La Seu Vella Cathedral! Known as the earliest neoclassical style building in Catalonia, it also carefully retains elements of the late Baroque and French academics, sooo has an artistic feel~
The architecture was designed by Pedro Martin Sermenio and personally directed by Italian architect Francisco Sabatini. The entire church is made of gray stone, with a plain but super atmospheric exterior, and the interior is more worthy of slow appreciation: three naves, semi-cylindrical vaults supported by columns, and Corinthian pilasters, the geometric structure blends perfectly with the classical decoration.
I recommend you to walk up the stairs on the main facade, you will see a super giant emblem with the Bourbon dynasty emblem engraved on it, super eye-catching! The church's three semicircular porch is a representative of the neoclassical style, plus two bell towers on the side and a terrace with a railing in the middle.
If you are an architecture junkie or love human history, La Seu Vella is definitely not to be missed! By the way, going to Catalonia in September is really chill

Must-visit ancient cities in Catalonia in September
Nestled in the fertile plains of the Segre River, Lleida has historically been a melting pot of diverse cultures. Atop a hill in the city's historic district stands the famous old church, also known as the Catedral de la Seu Vera, a symbol of the capital.
This fertile land and advantageous location first attracted the Iberian "ilergete" tribes in the 5th century BC, who founded the city, which later fell to the Romans as Ilerda.
This hill was and still is the heart of Lleida. The city's highest point preserves architectural remains from the various ethnic groups that settled there.

Recommended tours of the secrets of Taoer Ancient Village
Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Lleida (Region)
Taüll is located at an altitude of 1,482 meters. The village is divided into two parts, centered around the Church of Santa María and the Church of San Clemente, whose frescoes are among the most important examples of Catalan Romanesque art. The Pantocrator is particularly prominent.
The village's church dates back to the 12th century. The original idea was to establish a monastic center. Both Romanesque churches, with their impressive stone and slate bell towers, were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
Taüll's environment is also ideal for adventure sports, such as paragliding and canyoning; walking in the valley; climbing nearby peaks; horseback riding; mountain biking; and winter skiing at the Boí-Taüll resort. We also highly recommend visiting Aigüestortes National Park, which is very close to the village.

Ancient Manuscripts and Papal Bulls Unveiled
A Journey to the Pyrenees in Spain ~ Lleida (Region)
This is a small museum located in the center of La Seu. The museum is housed in the historic Casa del Deganat, very close to the cathedral. It boasts a rich collection of artworks spanning the 10th to 18th centuries, including paintings, sculptures, engravings, precious metal artifacts, manuscripts, textiles, liturgical ornaments, and more. It also features temporary exhibitions and a multimedia performance room. While all floors are accessible by elevator, the entrance to the building is somewhat steep for wheelchairs. On the second floor, you can find papal bulls damaged by insects on display. It also showcases the Urgell Codex, an 8th-century illustrated manuscript depicting the story of the battle between good and evil as described in the Revelation of John.

The most interesting historical site here is the cathedral, a prime example of the Italian-influenced Romanesque style of Catalonia from the 11th and 12th centuries. Also noteworthy are the 11th-century Romanesque Church of San Miguel, the 15th-century Sagrada Familia, the Town Hall, and the Diocesan Museum, which houses outstanding examples of medieval painting and sculpture. The Monastery of Santo Domingo, nestled in the historic district of beautiful arcaded streets and ancient mansions, has been converted into the Parador de Turismo Hotel.

Medieval monastery church in Lombard-Romanesque style, built between the 11th and 12th centuries on the outskirts of Ponz, in the Noguera region (Lleida)
Spanish Pyrenees Excursion ~ Lleida (Region)
It has a single nave covered with a semi-barrel vault and three octagonal-domed transept-shaped apses. The exceptionally tall octagonal dome is the monastery's most striking feature. Although it was looted and burned during the Carlist Wars in the mid-19th century, the current structure is a result of a well-restored restoration.
It is located on a hilltop surrounded by olive groves, and the narrow path required to access the stunning views is well worth the effort. The peace and tranquility this place offers is incredible. We also recommend visiting the castle directly in front for incredible 360-degree views.

Historical Market Square Route Recommendations
Pont de Suert holds significant historical importance. Built during the height of the Middle Ages, its historic center features walls and buildings that reflect the unique appearance and characteristics shaped by the Pyrenees. At Plaza del Mercadal, you'll find arcades on only one side, adorned with decorative elements reminiscent of the ancient Santa Maria de Lavaix Monastery. Another must-visit spot is the main square, overlooked by the Town Hall, which dates back to the 18th century.
The beautiful Calle Mayor begins here, a street entirely composed of arcaded walkways. Among the large houses lining the street, the facades of Ca de Jaumot and el Segretari stand out the most. Many streets and squares feature arcades designed to protect commercial activities from harsh weather conditions. By the riverside stands the Monastery Palace, once the residence of the abbot of Lavaix Monastery. This grand 15th-century Gothic civil building underwent extensive renovations, with its tall tower now serving as the bell tower of the old church. The church itself was built in Romanesque style and underwent a complete transformation during the Baroque period. It features a Latin cross floor plan with three naves and a transept, and it currently houses religious artworks from La Ribagorça.

Medieval Church Walk: A Deep Dive into Cultural Landscapes
Pyrenees Journey in Spain - Lleida (Region)
This is a Romanesque structure dating back to the 12th-13th century. Among the town's architecture, the most striking is Casa des Portolà, which has been converted into a tourist inn, the Renaissance-era Casa Paulet (16th century), and the ancient Gothic-style Sant Joan Parish Church (14th century) located on the right side of the Garonne River, across the road. To the west of the town, along the Garonne River, lies the Arties Thermal Baths, which were known since Roman times, as confirmed by numerous archaeological discoveries. Guided tours are apparently conducted every Monday to Friday at 5 PM, offering detailed explanations of the paintings, particularly the depiction of the Last Judgment near the apse. Thanks to the guide, we learned about the nearby Saint Bertrand de Comminges Cathedral. Before leaving, it is recommended to take a photo of the church and its surroundings from the cemetery. By the way, using a stroller is no problem as you can use the ramp instead of the entrance steps.

The parish church of Santa María, a Romanesque building dating from the 11th-12th centuries, is a prominent feature of the old town, though its bell tower is later (13th-14th centuries). It houses a large collection of exceptional paintings. Other notable attractions include the Gothic Temple of San Juan (late 14th century) and two civic buildings, the Casa de Paulet and the Casa de Portolá, both built in the 16th century.
On the outskirts of Arties are baths with sulfurous water and two springs. The village also offers outdoor recreation areas, and two bears live in a fenced reserve. For fishing enthusiasts, the Garonne River and nearby lakes are excellent options.

A Journey of Exploring the European Ancient Alleys🏰
Spanish Pyrenees Excursion ~ Lleida (Region)
The small town of Esterri d'Àneu nestles beneath the protection of Valencia Castle, bordering the Noguera Pallaresa River. The town consists of small squares and narrow streets lined with houses that exemplify rural architecture. Interesting buildings can be admired, such as the 15th-century Church of San Vicente, the only remaining structure of which is its west facade, and the new parish church, built in the 18th century.
The surrounding landscape, shaped by whitewater rivers, meanders, and lakes, is ideal for outdoor activities. The Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici National Park is a prime example of the natural diversity of the High Pyrenees region in the province of Lleida. In addition to its environmental diversity, the town boasts a rich architectural heritage, as it is home to the Romanesque complex of the Vall de Boí, a World Heritage Site. #SeptemberDestinations2025 #Catalonia

Overlooking the spectacular scenery of Boyi Valley 🏞️
Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Lleida (Region)
At the end of Taüll, an easy trail begins. The elevation gain is minimal, and it's a must-see, as it leads to a viewpoint offering a breathtaking view of almost the entire Boí Valley. Located above the town of Taüll, the trail is very easy, with almost no incline, making it suitable for all ages and abilities. Perhaps the only drawback is that it's not wheelchair accessible, which can be challenging in the rain. The trail isn't well-marked, and there are forks along the way, but always keep to the left.

Mountain and River in Bossòst
#summervacay Bossòst is one of those towns that feels like a cozy hug from the mountains. It’s tucked away in the Val d’Aran, right near the border with France, and it’s got that perfect mix of small-town charm and epic scenery. You’ve got a river running through it, green hills all around, and stone buildings that look like they’ve been there forever.
The vibe here is super relaxed. You can just stroll along the river, pop into a bar for some pintxos, or sit in the plaza and let time pass. The church in the middle of town is really cute, and there are some nice short walks nearby if you want to stretch your legs without committing to a full hike.
People are friendly, the food is solid, and everything feels super local and lowkey. Whether you’re using it as a base for exploring Val d’Aran or just passing through, Bossòst is totally worth a stop. Peaceful, pretty, and full of charm.

Estany de Sant Maurici, Nature’s Screensaver IRL
#summervacay Estany de Sant Maurici is the kind of place that makes you stop mid-hike and just go, “Whoa.” Sitting right in the heart of Aigüestortes National Park, this lake is surrounded by towering mountains, pine trees, and views that are basically nature’s flex. Oh, and let’s not forget the iconic twin peaks of Els Encantats looking all majestic in the background.
The hike to get there is super scenic, with wooden walkways, streams, and random “omg take a pic” moments every few minutes. When you finally reach the lake, it’s all peaceful vibes, mirror-like water, and fresh air that just hits different.
You can chill by the shore, have a snack, take a million photos, or keep hiking to other nearby lakes and waterfalls. There’s no wrong way to enjoy this place. It’s perfect for a day trip or the start of a bigger adventure.
Estany de Sant Maurici isn’t just a lake, it’s a whole mood. Calm, beautiful, and totally worth the hike.

Hiking Montcorbison, Legs on Fire, Views on Point
#summervacay If you’re in the Vall d’Aran and feeling kinda outdoorsy, the hike up Montcorbison is so worth it. Yeah, your legs might complain a bit (okay, a lot), but the views at the top totally shut them up. You’re looking down on Vielha, surrounded by epic mountain peaks in every direction, it’s like standing on top of a postcard.
The trail isn’t super long, but it’s got some decent incline, so bring water, snacks, and maybe mentally prepare for a little sweat. It starts off pretty chill with foresty vibes, then opens up to these gorgeous alpine meadows and rocky paths that make you feel like you're in some kind of fantasy movie.
Once you hit the summit, it’s pure magic. Mountains on mountains on mountains. Snap your pics, take a breather, and just soak it all in. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels like a major win once you get up there. Montcorbison doesn’t mess around, it’s a hike with serious reward.

Taüll Is Mountain Magic
#summervacay Taüll is one of those blink-and-you-miss-it villages, but wow, it packs a punch. Tucked away in the Vall de Boí in the Pyrenees, it’s got major “cozy mountain postcard” energy. Stone houses, narrow lanes, flower-filled balconies, it’s ridiculously cute. And peaceful? Like, seriously peaceful. You can hear your own thoughts here… and probably some sheep.
But the real stars? The Romanesque churches. Yep, plural. Sant Climent and Santa Maria are both here, and they’re gorgeous. Old, simple, and just full of that ancient charm that makes you wanna whisper even when no one’s around. Plus, the views from Sant Climent? Chef’s kiss. Mountains for days.
It’s the kind of place where you just slow down, sip a coffee, wander aimlessly, take a million photos, and breathe that crisp mountain air like it’s therapy. If you’re into nature, history, or just escaping the chaos, Taüll is calling. Tiny but unforgettable, this little gem totally wins your heart without even trying.

At the Lelida Castle in Spain
#AutumnHo-cationEvent Lelida Castle Castel de la Suda is a charming historical site in the Catalonia region of Spain. It is a place that makes you feel like you have gone back to the Middle Ages. If you climb up the castle, you can take in the beautiful scenery of the city of Lelida and its surroundings at a glance. Inside the castle, you can see traces of the kings of the Middle Ages living there, and you can deeply feel the rich history and culture, so I recommend it.
