There was a little fog on the day of the tour, and the atmosphere suddenly came up. 📍Great Glen The road we drove into our little tourist bar was really dreamy, with valleys + lakes + forests, it felt like entering a Harry Potter movie. Every time we turned a corner we saw new scenery, and my friend and I couldn't help but take pictures. 📍Fort Augustus 📍Loch Ness Finally arrived at the legendary Loch Ness! Although I didn’t see the monster, the weather was super good when we arrived at Loch Ness. The sun made the lake surface a clear blue. Loch Ness is really charming! 📍Grampian Mountains 📍Highland Perthshire 🕗Departure time: I chose to depart from Glasgow, meet at 7:45am (need to arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes in advance), and return to the city at 7:15pm 🚐Transportation: Comfortable Mercedes mini-coach small tourist bus, each seat has a USB charging plug, the seats are very spacious and comfortable, you can really get off the bus to play, and get on the bus to have a good rest 😁Group size: Only 4 people (including me and my friend) 🍴Lunch (at your own expense) We had lunch at a small restaurant in the town, and the meal was a big surprise for me. I ordered fish and chips, the skin was fried crispy, the fish was fresh, and the tartar sauce was just right, the price was about 11£. My friend chose beef baguette, which cost about 13£. The beef was juicy and the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My friends loved it. The side dishes include salad and French fries, which are generous in portion and quite delicious. 💬The tour guide was very enthusiastic, telling stories and history along the way, and making jokes from time to time. The atmosphere was very relaxed and not boring at all! The only regret is that I didn't see the Highland cattle this time. I really want to see their furry appearance with my own eyes. Summarize: I really enjoyed the whole trip, the scenery was so beautiful and shocking! The tour guide was very enthusiastic, the lunch was delicious, and it was a comfortable and fulfilling day! I highly recommend this small group tour. You can rest on the bus and play when you get off. It's a mindless enjoyment. 💰Average Consumption: ~$800

#campingfun Camping at Cape Wrath in the far northwest of Scotland was one of the most remote and breathtaking experiences I’ve had. It’s truly a wild and rugged spot, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. There’s no official entrance fee to camp here, but getting there is part of the adventure! You need to take a small ferry from Keoldale (about £10 round trip) and then catch a minibus to the lighthouse, where the camping spots are, or hike if you’re feeling adventurous. The isolation is incredible—no shops or facilities nearby, just you, your tent, and nature. The Cape Wrath Lighthouse is a must-see, standing guard over the dramatic cliffs, and the sunsets here are phenomenal. Not far off is Sandwood Bay, one of the most beautiful and untouched beaches in Scotland, which is a perfect day trip for anyone seeking pristine sands and wild beauty. Rating - 5/5 Took a day tour with my friends around Scotland and one of the stop is the Three Sisters Viewpoint! It is definitely one of the most scenic and beautiful places that makes me want to tell everyone that you should visit once! It is at least 2 hours ride from Glasgow and the only transport available is by car or tour bus. I would recommend that if you are taking a tour around Scotland, do wear thicker clothes as when I was visiting with my friends, at the moment it was -0°C and my clothes were too thin where it stops me from heading down to view more. 🚘Car Rental Process I booked my car in advance on trip.com. I chose to pick up in Edinburgh and return it in London Heathrow. The company was Alamo, and there was no extra return fee. I purchased full insurance online through Rentalcover. I arrived at the rental agency 15 minutes early on the day of booking. We shared a rental with two other companies. After checking my international and Hong Kong driver's licenses, they took me straight to the car show. I had originally chosen a mid-size SUV, but the Peugeot 3008 was larger than I expected. Because I would be driving in the Highlands, I added insurance on the spot, including wheel and window protection and roadside assistance. (I was worried about flat tires. I later discovered that the roads in the Highlands are well paved, but narrow, and there's a chance I'd scrape the shoulder.) 🚘Driving Tips British drivers are very polite. If you need to turn lanes, they'll generally let you go first if you turn on your indicator. I used Waze for navigation, which provided quick location information and accurate directions. Also, I have to mention that British people are known for jaywalking! Pedestrians generally don't look at traffic lights; they just cross when they see a clear path. Some even ignore passing cars. 😥 So when passing through residential areas or tourist hotspots, be extremely vigilant! #holidayitinerary Smoo Cave near Durness is such a cool stop if you’re cruising along the North Coast 500. It’s right off the road, super easy to get to, and way bigger than it looks from the outside. You walk down a wooden staircase into this giant sea cave, and the entrance alone is wild, massive, echoey, and carved by the sea. Inside, there’s a walkway that takes you to a chamber with a waterfall pouring through a hole in the ceiling. It looks super dramatic, especially if it's been raining. We didn’t do the boat tour deeper into the cave (it wasn’t running that day), but it sounded fun if you're into that kind of underground adventure. The walk down and back up isn’t too tough, but wear good shoes if it’s been wet. There’s a little car park and some info signs that explain the geology and Viking history, which is pretty interesting. Definitely a quick but memorable stop on the northern coast.

#holidayitinerary Hiking Ben Nevis is no joke, but it’s a seriously cool experience if you’re up for a long, rocky day. We took the Mountain Track, which is the most popular route, and it starts off chill enough but gets steeper and rougher as you go. The path is clear most of the way, but it’s a solid climb and your legs will definitely feel it. The weather is super unpredictable, we had sunshine at the start and then full fog at the top. Bring layers, good boots, and definitely snacks because it takes about 6 to 8 hours round trip depending on pace. The summit is often in the clouds, but it still feels awesome to stand at the top of the UK’s highest peak. There’s a visitor centre and car park at the base in Glen Nevis, which is handy. Not the easiest hike, but the views and the achievement make it totally worth it if you're in the Highlands.

As soon as I submitted my graduation thesis, I went on a spontaneous exploration trip to the Scottish Highlands with my roommate. It is one of Scotland's oldest landscapes, formed from the remnants of a volcanic crater dating back 450 million years. The famous Three Sisters viewpoint is located along the A82 road near Ballachulish, about 4 miles west of the Glencoe Visitor Centre. From there, a 30-minute bus ride will take you to Glencoe. The Glencoe Visitor Centre is a 5-minute drive along the A82 road. If you're not driving, you can take a taxi to reach the destination.

This trip had a bit of a hiccup, something I’ve encountered for the first time in my career—the guests got their travel dates mixed up. From the initial inquiry to booking, the guests consistently mentioned April as their travel month. Two days before the agreed-upon date, our driver-guide confirmed the itinerary with the guests, and there was no indication of any issues. On the morning of the scheduled date, the driver-guide arrived punctually at the guests’ hotel, only to find that they couldn’t be reached. After waiting for an hour, the driver-guide checked with the hotel, which confirmed that no such guests were staying there. We were all quite puzzled. By the afternoon, we finally managed to contact the guests and discovered the mix-up—they had mistaken the travel date. The actual trip was scheduled for May, and at the time, the guests were still in the United States. 😂 According to the contract terms, in such situations, we are entitled to charge the full trip cost without issuing any refunds. However, we’re not unreasonable, and the guests were very apologetic, taking full responsibility for the mistake. After some discussion, we decided to only charge them for the actual expenses incurred that day, including the driver-guide’s fuel costs for traveling to and from the hotel and the non-refundable accommodation booked for that day. We absorbed the loss of the driver-guide’s schedule ourselves, and the guests gladly accepted this arrangement. 👍 A few days ago, on the correct date, our driver-guide once again went to the hotel to pick up the guests, and the trip to the Highlands began smoothly. Before departure, the guests made several suggestions for the itinerary, and we promptly adjusted the plan to include many new attractions based on their preferences. During their hiking and boat tours, the driver-guide ensured seamless coordination and also recommended many local delicacies. The guests had an excellent experience. 🌹

#Stuart Grant Stuart Grant, a retired woodcutter and joiner, is renowned for constructing a whimsical, handcrafted cottage in Tomich, near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Often dubbed the “Hobbit House” due to its enchanting design, this unique dwelling has garnered attention for its rustic charm and the inspiring story behind its creation.  A Labour of Love In 1984, Stuart purchased a dilapidated 200-year-old shoemaker’s cottage for £600. The structure was in a state of ruin, lacking a roof and doors. Initially intended as a temporary residence while renovating a larger house on the property, Stuart found immense satisfaction in restoring the outbuilding and decided to make it his permanent home. Over the years, he meticulously rebuilt the cottage using salvaged materials, crafting features like a curved oak front door, stained glass windows, and stonework from river rocks. Despite suffering from myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) for 46 years, which slowed his progress, Stuart embraced the process, stating, “I just enjoyed doing it so much—I got carried away” .  Living Off the Grid Stuart’s cottage is a testament to sustainable living. He resides almost entirely off-grid, without a mobile phone or internet access, and no longer drives due to his age. His lifestyle emphasizes simplicity and contentment, as he once remarked, “I feel richer than very wealthy people because I’m very contented” .   A Tourist Attraction The unique aesthetic of Stuart’s home, reminiscent of Tolkien’s Middle-earth, has attracted visitors worldwide. Interestingly, Stuart had never seen the “Lord of the Rings” films when he built the house; the resemblance is purely coincidental.
