“The Xiyou Cave is the shooting site of “Journey to the West” TV drama, and the famous Traveler Xu Xiake of Ming Dynasty left a reputation of “the first strange cave in the world”. The West Tour Cave Scenic Area includes : West Tour Cave, Water Curtain Cave and Guanyin Cave. 📍Get there : I took a DiDi from my hotel located near Kunming railway station and it took a little over 40 minutes or so. Attractions- The caves are a lot of fun to visit. There are professional photographers along the way. There’s a glass bridge, a big swing and a giant Buddha hand. I highly recommend doing all the activities, it’s totally worth it! Food - There are food stalls at the entrance of the site. You can also buy some snacks on your way up the mountain. Xiyou Cave is a marvellous attraction that will take up your entire day as there are a lot of activities along the way to the top of the mountain and subsequently the glass bridge. * Getting There - We took a DiDi from the city centre to Xiyou cave and back again. There are other cabs and shuttle services available however you will need to negotiate an acceptable fare with them beforehand, otherwise you will get overcharged. * Attractions - There are many attractions in this one place. You start off by walking up the mountain to get to the cave (inside the mountain). Walking up is relatively steep and will leave you a little flustered if it’s a hot day out. Once you get inside the cave, the temperature drops significantly making the walk more bearable and cooler. The cave is illuminated with lights and you can take “professional” photos with photographers along the way. After walking through the cave to the top, there is a bell there that you can ring, an arcade and a glass bridge that you have to cross to get to the other side (this comes with at an extra charge). At the opposite side of the glass bridge there’s a big swing that goes over the mountain and a golden hand that you can take a photo on.
