Stay at a Traditional Japanese Ryokan
Ginzan Onsen ♨️, an ancient hot spring village in Yamagata city, is surrounded by waterfalls, a river running through the village, and encircled by mountains. During late autumn, the village transforms into a warm orange hue, creating a cozy atmosphere. Even without snow, the scenery is breathtaking in its own way 🍂.
For travel, you can make a day trip by taking the JR train to Ōishida Station and then transferring to a bus. However, if you prefer a relaxing getaway, you can stay overnight at a ryokan in the village. We chose Takimikan for its incredible room views. Although we missed the peak of the autumn foliage, the onsen view was spectacular. Located on a secluded hill at the far end of the village, it offers a peaceful retreat as fewer people pass by compared to the lower part of the village. Highly recommended for a visit—it’s truly worth it 🧡🍁.
*For those not staying overnight in the village, you can find accommodations in Yamagata city. Just make sure to check the bus schedule back to the JR station carefully.
