🌈 Jiangshan Jianglang Mountain
The 'less popular' 5A scenic spot can be reached by sightseeing bus. Entrance is free from Monday to Friday, and there is a charge on weekends.
🌸 Twenty-Eight Towns Ancient Town
The ancient town, with a history of a thousand years, has every brick and tile imprinted with its glorious story in time.
☀️ Fugaishan Rafting (Open in summer)
Fugaishan Rafting, known as 'rafting across three provinces', offers both thrilling and leisurely rafting experiences.
☁️ Xianxia Pass
One of China's four ancient passes, Xianxia Pass has beautiful scenery and ancient trails winding through the mountains.
💧 Jiangshan Fun
There are many mosquitoes in the mountains, so remember to bring mosquito repellent spray.
The food in Quzhou is not all spicy, suitable for children's taste, and there are many local specialties. Quzhou duck head is worth a try.
🌈 Grandma's Private Kitchen
The shredded radish beef and braised large intestine are really amazing. I just love to heap the shredded radish beef on my rice!
💧 Jiangshan Xishan Food City
I forgot the name, but in the food city, go to the first floor, on the left side towards the middle.
🌟 Home Stir-Fry Restaurant! I rush there every year when I return. The fish, bullfrog, and beef pot are delicious, and the best is the shredded potato! But it's too much trouble to cut, so when it's busy, the lady boss always refuses me.
🌙 Momo Stir-Fry
This place probably doesn't need my introduction, many people say it's delicious. The shop is not big, so you need to make a reservation in advance, and expect to wait during meal times!
✨ Xianhong Stall
The most classic dish is the sauerkraut fish! The fish is freshly killed at the market and cooked immediately in the shop! Just don't expect it to be too fresh or too tender.

EMMA SANTIAGO
Tian'erdu Ancient Town, a unique Quzhou ancient town
It's really quite different from other ancient towns in Zhejiang, as if it's a forgotten corner, exquisite and powerful, built against the mountains, with a touch of mystery, and a bit of the flavor of Guizhou and Yunnan.

Quzhou Jiangshan Twenty-Eight Villages
Take the train to Jiangshan Station, and there is a bus outside the station that goes directly to the ticket office of the Twenty-Eight Villages scenic area. You will pass several different small attractions on the way, so be careful not to get off the bus too early.
It's really, really, really small (probably the smallest ancient town I've been to), mainly just one street with a row of houses on each side.
If you're specifically coming to Twenty-Eight Villages to check in, I really don't recommend it; but if it's just a stop along the way and you're casually checking in, it's still worth a stroll.

Rated as the most beautiful ancient town by National Geographic, I regret only discovering it now
There are many beautiful ancient towns in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai,
Xitang, Wuzhen, Shaoxing, Nanxun ancient towns,
but they are all too crowded.
This time, in Jiangshan, Quzhou, I found a very special and niche ancient town, the Twenty-Eight Town.
Located at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces, its architecture blends styles from different regions, with Quanzhou's Minnan characteristic orange-yellow bricks and tiles, and the walls of Huizhou-style architecture. The buildings are densely packed, and wandering among them feels very interesting. As a 5A tourist attraction, it is very low-key, and the place is full of the New Year atmosphere during the Spring Festival. If you don't want to be in a crowded place, you can come here with your family for a visit.
On the first day, go straight to the Twenty-Eight Town. Self-driving is really convenient; the ancient town is right off the highway. Let me share some of the Spring Festival activities here.
1. Year of the Dragon Art Exhibition
The intangible heritage bamboo-woven dragon installation is already being set up. The local elders are diligently weaving the dragon shapes, all of which are exquisite. The exhibitions are located at Wenchang Palace, Zhupo Bridge, Dongsheng Bridge, and the small square of the foreign goods store.
2. New Year Garden Event
Immerse yourself in the ancient Twenty-Eight Town, with Song Dynasty vendors hawking along the streets, ready for a photo op at any moment, and a traditional New Year market showcasing local specialty foods and various interesting handicrafts.
3. New Year Concert
During the Spring Festival, big stars will drop in, like Gao Shengmei and Nan Quan Mama, all part of my youth memories. Who didn't listen to 'Orange Soda' and 'Rainy Day' when they were young?
On the second day, you can go to Jianglang Mountain, also a 5A scenic spot, with scenery that I think is no less impressive than Huangshan, and a great experience.
If you come here during the Spring Festival, not only can you enjoy the beautiful scenery, but you can also check in at the One-Line Sky Fortune Path, which is a hundred-meter-long fortune path created by the young artist Qin Xinyuan, combining the One-Line Sky attraction of Jianglang Mountain. Climbing up the steps, you rise higher with each step, and it's predicted to be a popular spot during the Spring Festival.
Of course, there are other great places in Jiangshan:
1. Qingyang Scenic Area
With its ancient charm, it has produced 8 Shangshu (high officials) and 83 Jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations) in history, making it a famous cultural village.
2. Fugai Mountain
A mountain spanning three provinces, with unique landforms and shapes, the main peak is 1146.4 meters high, with various tunnels through the mountain, quite adventurous.
3. Xianxia Pass
The place is not large, but it is rich in historical heritage. Those who like history can come and see it. It is one of China's four ancient passes, along with Jianmen Pass, Hangu Pass, and Yanmen Pass.

Zhejiang's only free 5A ancient town, don't just go to the crowded Wuzhen! Bai Juyi's crazy confession is so beautiful that it takes your breath away, and the prices are still low...
It is the Twenty-Eight Du Ancient Town in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
DREW HUNTER
How beautiful can a town be to be named the most beautiful ancient town by 'National Geographic'? Behold the ancient town of Tiantai in Quzhou
Tiantai Town, located within the territory of Jiangshan, Zhejiang, is a historic and cultural town, a creative base for writers in Zhejiang Province, situated at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces. Historically, it was an important market town in the border area, known as the 'Lock and Key of Fengxi', experts praise it as a 'cultural enclave', and scholars call it 'a dream lost in the mountains.'
The ancient town still retains 2 traditional ancient streets, 36 ancient dwellings, 2 Confucian temples, 14 Zeng temples, 10 major landscapes, 4 major families, 13 dialects, and 142 surnames;
With its rich and colorful cultural landscape, simple and rich folk customs, and unique and profound cultural heritage, the quaint and elegant Tiantai Town stands out dazzlingly amidst the encirclement of modern civilization.
Attractions to check out:
Wenchang Pavilion
Built in the first year of the Xuantong era of the Qing Dynasty (1909 AD), the building faces south and covers an area of about 1570 square meters. The main building, the central hall, is a three-story building, with a double-eaved roof and flying corners. The wood carving art and rich colored paintings of the entire building are very distinctive.
Confucius Temple
Built during the Xuantong era, it covers more than 1500 square meters, with the main hall being a two-story building with double eaves and a resting mountain top. The building is surrounded by flying eaves, very tall and majestic. The interior is most characterized by wood carving art and rich colored paintings, with all beams, rafters, ridgepoles, and ceilings painted with landscapes, human stories, and images of dragons, phoenixes, flowers, and birds. The themes are rich and the images are vivid, like a treasure trove of art.
Great King Temple
The Great King Temple, also known as Dongyue Temple, is dedicated to the Eastern Mountain Great Emperor. The temple is most beautiful at sunset, with its pink walls and black tiles shimmering in the sunlight.
Shui'an Bridge
The bridge was originally built in 1864 (the third year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty), more than 20 meters long and nearly 6 meters wide. Crossing the Shui'an Bridge, following the ancient path, one can go west to Jiangxi, south to Fujian, known as 'stepping into three provinces with one foot.'
Wanshou Palace
Crossing the Shui'an Bridge, one is immediately faced with a tall ancestral hall-style mansion, with walls almost twice as high as the typical ancient houses in the south of the Yangtze River. The door lintel bears the three characters 'Wanshou Palace', which was the old Jiangxi Guild Hall, a place for people from Jiangxi to rest and conduct business.
Fengxi Old Street
The ancient street is lined with neatly arranged shops on both sides, generally three rooms per household, separated by tall horse-head walls. The shop fronts have deep eaves, with beautifully carved wooden braces supporting the beams, and the gable sides are staggered to extend the eaves more than a meter outwards. The eaves of the houses on both sides of the street face each other, leaving a narrow strip of sky above the heads of pedestrians.
Fengxi Watching the Moon
Fengxi Bridge is a semi-circular single-arch stone bridge, built in 1838 (the 18th year of the Daoguang era). The small bridge, like a rainbow arching over the stream, is covered with green vines, and the sound of water is constant underneath. Standing on the nearby water dock, the semi-circular arch of the bridge and its reflection in the water form a perfect circle, with ripples on the water, like a round moon. This scene is thus called 'Fengxi Watching the Moon.'
A town that steps into three provinces, hidden deep in the Xianxia Mountains of Quzhou Jiangshan, it is hard to imagine such a mysterious, secluded, and primitive ancient town at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi. What meets the eye are well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with just a few thousand people speaking eight or nine different dialects and having more than 140 surnames. The architectural styles are even more diverse, with four or five different schools. It seems this is the martial arts square where characters from all walks of life in Mr. Jin Yong's novels exchange and spar.
Tiantai is not large, and wandering around at will is the best route. With 2 Confucian temples and 36 ancient dwellings, one should appreciate the beauty of the architecture and breathe the fresh air. In the evening, join the hustle and bustle of the main thoroughfare's trade market, or climb up to 'Success Pavilion' early in the morning to overlook the entire panorama of the ancient town.

A World of Flavor
A good place to go with fewer people during the Spring Festival
Tianbadu, the 'Nianbapu' in Jin Yong's writings, is located deep in the Xianxia Mountain Range in Jiangshan, Quzhou. The National Geographic calls this place 'a dream lost in the mountains'.
A town that spans three provinces, it used to be a vital route for merchants and a battleground for soldiers. Immigrants brought a variety of dialects, surnames, and architectural styles to this place, with most of the Ming and Qing ancient buildings well preserved to this day. If you're interested in ancient architecture, you'll regret not coming here sooner like I did❗️❗️
During the Spring Festival, there will be New Year activities here. If you haven't decided where to go, remember to bookmark this!

Twenty-eight Du Ancient Town

Zhejiang's only ancient town with a rivers and lakes atmosphere! How beautiful is the ancient town rated as the most beautiful by National Geographic?
I'm really tired of seeing the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, but the ancient town of Twenty-Eight is so special that it caught my eye.
Where is Twenty-Eight?
It's in Jiangshan, Quzhou, Zhejiang, deep in the Xianxia Mountain Range. The terrain is dangerous, but it has a strong southern Yangtze River flavor, and the people in the town live by the stream.
What's special about Twenty-Eight?
The small town straddles three provinces, at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi. It seems to have convenient transportation, but in fact, the environment is completely closed, so there are well-preserved Ming and Qing buildings. Walk into any courtyard, and it's basically the same as it was over 100 years ago. A family's window lattice, just the relief patterns have dozens of kinds.
Twenty-Eight has a rivers and lakes atmosphere, and Jin Yong's 'The Smiling, Proud Wanderer' also wrote about this small town. The locals all say that looking down from Xianxia Ridge, the ancient buildings of Twenty-Eight look like a curved bow.
The mystery of Twenty-Eight also lies in the fact that there are only a few thousand people, but there are 9 dialects, more than 140 surnames, and 5 architectural styles (Zhejiang style, Huizhou style, Jiangxi style, Fujian style, and even European style). Twenty-Eight used to be a military stronghold and a commercial travel route, and immigrants brought dialects and surnames from all over the place.
How to visit Twenty-Eight?
Just wander around~ There are 2 Confucian temples and 36 ancient houses in the town. If you are interested in architectural culture, you can feast your eyes. I like to drill into the villages next to it, where there are few tourists, and watch the villagers washing clothes and chatting by the stream.
The ancient town has two main streets with a great atmosphere in the evening, which will remind people of its past as the busiest port on the border of the three provinces, how lively it was. It is said that it was about a day's journey from Pucheng in Fujian and Guangfeng in Jiangxi to here, which was just right for camping, and there were as many as 50 restaurants along the street.
What to eat when visiting Twenty-Eight?
'Eight Big Bowls'
One person can't eat a few bowls, such as Dendrobium stewed with stone frog, cardamom stewed with pig's feet, etc. If you meet a talkative boss, you can make half a portion. My favorite is steamed fish with cured meat. The surface is covered with cured meat, and the bottom is full of small yellow fish. When you bite it, the oil drips out, and the thorns are steamed to be crispy and tender. It's so refreshing.
'Second Snacks'
Swallow skin wonton and gong cake. Gong cake is regarded as the 'god of cakes' at the border of Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangxi. It is crispy on the outside and glutinous on the inside, slightly sweet, a bit chewy, and has a hint of the taste of herbs in the mountains, very refreshing.
Big Tofu
Twenty-Eight is famous for its tofu because of its high mountains and good water. The tofu is rich whether it is braised or stewed in soup. The first thing tourists should do after coming to Twenty-Eight from the Xianxia Ancient Road is to eat a bowl of brine tofu.
What to wear for photos when visiting Twenty-Eight?
Because the residential buildings in Twenty-Eight are basically black, white, and gray, they are simple and elegant. Wearing bright colors will be more eye-catching, and wearing plain clothes will be more temperamental.
Where to stay when visiting Twenty-Eight?
You can stay at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel not far from Jiangshan High-speed Railway Station, mainly because the transportation is convenient, and there are also river view rooms, Chinese design, and the breakfast is quite rich.
There is also a famous Three Stone Mud Stove Homestay in Jiangshan, near the Jianglang Mountain Scenic Area, you can play Jianglang Mountain and Twenty-Eight together! Twenty-Eight Ancient Town

A dream lost in the mountains
Twnety-eight Town, located in Jiangshan, Zhejiang, is a famous historical and cultural town and a creation base for writers in Zhejiang Province. It is located at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. Historically, it was an important market town in the border area, known as the 'Key of Fengxi'. Experts praise it as a 'cultural enclave', and scholars call it 'a dream lost in the mountains.'
The local customs are simple and honest, and the merchants in the town are very polite. It is very worth stopping for a rest.

A place that has always been contested by military strategists throughout the ages, and where merchants gather and mingle
Tianbado is located in Jiangshan City, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, with a total area of about 183.37 square kilometers and an average altitude of 295 meters. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with features of both mountain and basin climates, a long history, and rich cultural landscapes. In 2017, it was rated as a national 5A tourist attraction.
Tianbado, originally named Daocheng, is the first town from Fujian to Zhejiang, known as the 'lock of Fengxi'. The town preserves 36 large and intact ancient residential buildings and halls, and 11 public buildings such as Confucian temples, Dawang Temple, Wanshou Palace, and Wenchang Pavilion. The population is over 4,000, with 13 dialects and 142 surnames. There are many intangible cultural heritages, such as mountain songs, paper-cutting, and puppet manipulation. It is known as the 'kingdom of dialects', 'natural folk museum', and 'cultural enclave'.
According to legend, at the end of the Tang Dynasty, to avoid the encirclement and suppression of the official army, Huang Chao led the rebel army to go south from Zhejiang, opened a 700-kilometer mountain road, passed through the present Tianbado, entered Fujian, and captured Fuzhou. Since then, Tianbado has become a place where troops have been stationed throughout the ages. This place has a long history, and most of the people come from immigrants from various places. It was an important town and post station for communication, transportation and trade between Zhejiang and Fujian in history. It reached its peak during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, with developed water transport and prosperous trade. The four major families of Cao, Yang, Jiang, and Jin were prominent at the time. Confucian and Taoist thoughts have the most prominent influence on the culture and architecture of this region. The landscape likes to use artistic languages such as wood carving and stone carving for creation, and often contains the concept of 'auspicious'.
